NLD 13 Draft thread

Postby joethejet » Sat Apr 08, 2006 2:10 pm

Dave, Congrats! Good thing the kid looks like his Mom! :D

We'll have to see if the distractions (and lack of sleep) will impact the vaunted QKSilver's win/loss record. ;)

I take it this is your first? Welcome to the world of parenthood. Kids are great, but they change everything!

Having kids is the best thing that's ever happened to me. Changed my life for sure! All the best to you and your growing family!

What are the correct sim settings? We recently purchased the CD-Rom and thought it would be interesting to compare the sims to the ratings.

Hey Semper,

What's up with you and Helms? You've cut the guy like 20 times. Yeesh what's the guy have to do to stick with you????

I think Semper Gumby is merely putting his team through basic training, and the players we see joining/leaving his roster are players that have passed basic training and are out doing military manouvres.

ratings???

Postby superflymacdaddyjuice » Sun Apr 09, 2006 8:45 pm

JTJ WM,

So how do the ratings look for NLD this season? Do your ratings warrant my modest level of confidence.

All,

I feel this was my strongest NLD draft and that I might actually have a shot to finish above .500 for a change. Any comments from the peanut gallery? Did I do any better this time? Or Am i destined for another lackluster sub .500 effort?

I missed:

Papi ( Lee)

Vizquel (Going with a super expensive and bound to under perform platoon of Greene and Crosby)

Heilman (Carrasco)

Guillen (unfortunate but MAJOR waiver wire blunder, I need to fire myself going with Wells instead)

Smokey,

WM sent me the files tonight. From what I can tell, in my brief look, the league is more balanced than ever. I think there were only two teams that didn't rate well.

Your team wasn't one of those. While not the highest, you're certainly in there with the rest of us.

Course, we'll see who does what after 10 tomorrow night. No need to post anything before then, it's a waste of effort.

I think it's going to come down to a little luck and to who matches up with their division and parks.

Hawk, your ratings weren't that bad, WM had put in your lineup wrong. It's hard to guess sometimes how guys are going to play their players.

An inauspcious start for the Shirtheads, Reyes (excellent v LHB) blows a save in the first game when Kotsay (sucks v RHP) hits a 2b and then scores on a groundout by Snyder. Niners makes the most of 3 hits, leaving only 2 on base while we left 6. Blah. :( Then Duffy goes down for 2 in game 2 and Ellis for three in game 3. I hate to see what's going to happen in games 4-15! ;) Not the way you want to see a season start. Guess we can't complain too much as Harang outpitched Zambrano in game 2. :? Go figure.

As expected, however, every game we played was decided by one run. The third game in 11 innnings. Luck is going to be a BIG factor in this season.

And awaaaaay we go......
