Back to the ball field it was nice to rebound with a sweep of my own last night. Haven't looked at the boxscores yet, so I can't comment yet, but I'll surely take a 5-4 start when all 9 of those games were on the road. :)

The start to this season is eerily similar to last season  I can only hope the outcome is the same.

This is from another team of mine last night, but wanted y'all to see this. Torres (who is set on SLOW HOOK mind you) was pulled after facing [b:bb51181967]ONE[/b:bb51181967] batter, [b:bb51181967]who reach on an error.[/b:bb51181967]

*** BOTTOM OF INNING 7 ***
0 A.Rodriguez 3 Strike Out b-0
1 M.Teixeira 4 Ground Out b-0
2 M.Ensberg 6 Walk b-1
SUBSTITUTE P - Salomon Torres
2 1 L.Gonzalez 4 3 Base Error - LF 1-H b-3
SUBSTITUTE P - Huston Street
2 3 M.Kotsay 2 Fly Out b-0

Not only that, I had an injury to Eldred who wasn't available, so I had only 2 other relievers available instead of three.

HAL has ADD!

Postby Semper Gumby » Thu Jul 27, 2006 11:52 am

HAL is very sensitive to the set-up role / avoid rule this season. In five games, Dingman and Munter (not as much) face one batter than it is to the showers.

I'm glad HAL wants to get his stripes in the bullpen but Dingman will complain about the lack of use

As for injuries, I'm not so sure.

We had Castillo, Mauer, and Clark (all 2 injury guys) on the same team in another league. Clark has been injured frequently and for varying lengths of time (0-15) while the other two have rarely been injured. I've just chalked it up to Clark getting the other two's injury rolls.

HOWEVER, in another team Clark got > 600 PAs while Mi Sweeney and Aurilia were in the mid-500's.

Not sure that's any different than last year?

My thing with injuries, I don't think it's a staright roll on the Strat-O injury chart. The 15 gamer comes up WAY to often. I think there's something in the game ( CD owners, may be you can confirm??) that increaes the chance for higher injury rolls for guys with low PA's and/or a higher injury roll.

Semper - I hope those linescores were from different games. Otherwise we have a real problem with Munter coming into the game more than once! :D

There are some CD-Rom settings that impact duration of injuries, but I don't know which setting or combination of settings TSN uses in their game. I think most of it is just luck aside from the PA adustments (3 game max injury if over 600 PA's, etc).

Sparky "The Hook" Andersen

Postby Semper Gumby » Thu Jul 27, 2006 9:23 pm

Must work with my bench coach 'cause Sparly loves pulling them set-up men out even before they spit twice and grab their crotch once.

:D

Munter will want more money for just walking from the bully to the rubber. I'm thinking about getting the cart from the Mets

I used to go to 20 or so Met games per season from the late 60s to late 70s and would always get pysche'd to call out the bullpen cart shaped like a baseball with cap on it.

:)

Sparky = HAL?

Postby Semper Gumby » Fri Jul 28, 2006 6:18 am

Damn .... I'm wonder what the heck HAL is trying to pull here -

Because his "triggers" needs some glue (ain't too many arms left in the bullpen after the 9th inning).
