ATG6 Auction: Closed bidding and nomination thread

Here is a question.

If Charleston was reposted, would anyone bid over 10.20?

[quote:f25af1ee30]Though I agree that 10.2 is sort of high for Charleston, if we started over at say, 8.50, there would have been more bids. An auction would probably brought the price over 10.20. So I am still okay with the price. He is a pretty good player after all... [/quote:f25af1ee30]
Exactly. If the open were changed the whole composition and dynamic of the auction would change.

Probably I would not bid over 10.20 at this point, but I'm not sure the question is needed... we're all looking back with 20-20 hindsight.

ironwill - he's yours for 10.20.

Let's move on. I need a CF. Even DHowser needs a CF.

It seems o me that at least 1 person would possibly be biased by preknowledge of the Charleston results (for example litangel's comments suggested he would have happily paid over $11 million at the time the results were announced).

I would propose at this point that ironwill1 get Charleston at 10.20 AND be allowed to nominate a replacement (it does not have to be Cobb).

That would leave also bids open on

Collins (PKB)$2.00
someone new from carr20
someone new from ironwill1

Miljus (PKB) $3.35
Vance (DHowser) $3.00

AND for clarification, PKB would have spent $66.38, getting Hack Wilson and Satchel Paige and be left with a maximum bid of $6.12 on any 1 player along with a large pile of giblets, livers, and a cranberry barrage.

Okay? :|

Rick, I support your current solution. No solution is perfect and this is certainly good enough, and seems to have group support.

If Charleston was reopened with a lower opening bid, i would definitely bid, probably enough to get in an auction, but I am willing to let that go. What you are proposing seems fairest.

Love to see an update with time when players will close. Also would love to see results from those non-controversial picks who have been out there for a while.(Collins-Vance) so we can move forward.
