That is correct. The player you claim with your "Redding" pick will be available to you to be added post-waivers, as no other owner can make a claim on him.
geez- my worst draft ever- and I couldnt even get tim redding... so despite only getting 7/25 I picked my reward is the first pick with an asterisk- I guess I this weekend will be my only time not in the cellar in this league....
Well as long as the player Rigged Splits claims isnt a player you really wanted your #1 pick won't really be affected ... and of course you still get the #1 pick for each of the 8 waiver rounds.
I'm not too unhappy with my draft despite missing out on Abreu - probably because I knew in advance I'd miss out on Linebrink, Floyd & Gomes! Probably be the first 2006 league I actually place 8 waiver claims!
Ended up with A-rod and Cabrera, and almost none of my pitching Got a few of my bench players, but will be looking for at least CF, RF, 2B, and whatever scraps of pitching remain.
Good luck to all in waivers today. JeepDriver has confirmed that Rigged Splits does not need to use a waiver claim to add Derrek Lee, unless of course he wants to. If he waits til post-waivers he should pick him up asap after waivers.
1. Nobody can own any SP over $1M. If you own a SP/RP over $1M he must be used in relief only. The penalty for an SP/RP over $1M starting will be benching your highest salaried hitter for 1 series (3 games). This doesn't apply if there's an injury forcing someone else to start.
