[quote:91807d270c]So what happens when Boone goes down for 3 games? HAL plays Melvin Mora at 2B (4e71). [/quote:91807d270c]

That's what you get for stealing Boone from me Coffee...you had to have him ranked #1 didn't you? The curse of HAL be upon you for stealing one of my prime players.

EAST

FIRST PLACE Braves - JKolak (18-6) 1st

Not to suprised by my team's start. The question is not will my team win the division. The question is by how much will it win the division.

SECOND PLACE Blacksmiths - pushpin (11-13) 2nd tied

This team should be scoring more runs...

FOURTH PLACE Lakers - Rzpernick (11-13) 2nd tied

This team is a bit more competitive than I projected. Wrigley is a tough place to play and win.

THIRD PLACE Pauli Ball - bomberny (9-15) 4th

The offense is the killer for this team. It will be a long season for this squad unless the team starts to win at home.

CENTRAL

THIRD Punks - JDClark (14-10) 1st

The Central was the toughest division for me to handicap. This team will only be as good as its road record.

SECOND Big Red - Coffee (13-11) 2nd

Exactly where I projected the king of caffeine.

FIRST Spoonbills - Grossman (11-13) 3rd

Off to a rough start but the this team has a positive run differential and signs of a turnaround about to happen.

FOURTH Firebirds - ny2dave (9-15) 4th

This team is attempting to compete...a poor home record is a sign of worse things to come.

WEST

THIRD Yankees - AtremusRex (18-6) 1st

Magic Alexx is defying the laws of gravity...The run differential is extremely impressive and the runs allowed at this point is even more impressive...I could eat a murder of crows with my prediction on this team.

SECOND Angels - poser (14-10) 2nd

I like this team a lot. It will be in the race for the division and wild card from beginning to end unless Poser gets trigger happy on the waiver wire.

FIRST Jokers - Ironwill (8-16) 3rd tied

A rough start for a team that is playing up to its name as a bunch of baseball clowns. Once the offense gets on track, the team should get on track. The pitching has been pretty horrible so far.

FOURTH Thunder Wolves - McConvey (8-16) 3rd tied

This team does not have enough juice to win.

EAST

FIRST PLACE Braves - JKolak (23-7) 1st
FOURTH PLACE Lakers - Rzpernick (14-16) 2nd
SECOND PLACE Blacksmiths - pushpin (12-18) 3rd
THIRD PLACE Pauli Ball - bomberny (11-19) 4th

CENTRAL

THIRD Punks - JDClark (18-12) 1st
SECOND Big Red - Coffee (15-15) 2nd
FIRST Spoonbills - Grossman (14-16) 3rd
FOURTH Firebirds - ny2dave (13-17) 4th

WEST

THIRD Yankees - AtremusRex (22-8) 1st
SECOND Angels - poser (17-13) 2nd
FIRST Jokers - Ironwill (12-18) 3rd
FOURTH Thunder Wolves - McConvey (9-21)

Peculiar...although we are only 30 games into the season with another 132 to roll. Could it be that I underestimated the teams I projected into Third Place and overestimated the teams I projected into First Place? We'll see...we have a ways to go.

Well JK, I only have 3 more game of playing in my West Division oasis. Now I'll have to see how I do against the rest of the field.

One of the things that may of thrown you off of my team pitching-wise is if you figured Lowe was being used as a starter. At S5/R3/C5, Derrick is very versitile I use him as a setupman against RHB and overall middle relief. If we need an occasional starter (and with a 5 man rotation with no star pitchers in the bunch, especially Pedro), he is there for me. Obviously, he can also close when Fassano needs a rest. And if Micalik and Halama get run early, Lowe can take over. So far so good.

You were right about Burrell though. I was curious with him because I hadn't used him yet. For now I will just use him as DH against lefties and PH, but I'll probably look for a replacement soon. I hope to continue to confound your analysis.

I don't know of anybody who used Lowe as a starter in 2001...I did use him in one league as a closer in a division of teams that looked like the Republican National Convention...the other three teams had 6+ RH bats in their lineups.

We are 51 games into the season. Here is my take on things.

EAST

FIRST PLACE Braves - JKolak (33-18) 1st
My team has not been playing well/winning well of late. That happens.

SECOND PLACE Blacksmiths - pushpin (28-23) 2nd
This team is playing red hot after a shaky start. Could contend for the division crown if the offense keeps up.

FOURTH PLACE Lakers - Rzpernick (25-26) 3rd
Wrigley is a tough place to play and win. This team is competitive but doesn't have the horses to win the derby.

THIRD PLACE Pauli Ball - bomberny (21-30) 4th
Expected this team to do a little better. An anemic offense can't score enough runs.

CENTRAL

THIRD Punks - JDClark (26-25) 1st
This team plays well home and sucks road. Could compete for the division crown because the rest of the division is rather weak.

SECOND Big Red - Coffee (21-30) 2nd tied
Intradivisional play will determine the fate of this team.

FIRST Spoonbills - Grossman (21-30) 2nd tied
The offense has not performed as well as I expected. Still my pick to take the division crown. However, it will be a bit of an upfield climb.

FOURTH Firebirds - ny2dave (20-31) 4th
A pesky team that is hanging tough. In this division, a back-to-back sweep can put this team into some serious contention for a time.

WEST

THIRD Yankees - AtremusRex (37-14) 1st
I may have misread this team big time. It seems like everything Magic Alexx has with offense and pitching is clicking into place.

FIRST Jokers - Ironwill (27-24) 2nd
After a very sluggish start, this team is starting to slug it out.

SECOND Angels - poser (26-25) 3rd
This team will hang in there until the end. The hot start by Magic Alexx may make it difficult to lace a playoff berth.

FOURTH Thunder Wolves - McConvey (21-30) 4th
A marginal home record coupled with an abysmal road record never does bode well.

The guy I have to tip my cap to is Artemus Rex. I probably have played in a few too many leagues with Alexx. StratOFamiliarity breeds StratOContempt. It should be interesting to see what those damned Yankees can do with just over two-thirds of the season to play.

1. Damn Yankees, Heh! Love it. Wish I would have read that before I created my 2002 team. This will only be my 2nd 2002 team even and my 1st one only grabbed 75 wins. Picking my draft card only reminded me of that and makes winning in 2001 all that more important.
2. If by contempt you mean the utmost respect and admiration then I accept. I know what you mean though. You've seen my tendencies over the past three years and have seen the results. Even though I am in the lead, I not playing like the number one team. I'm still an underdog until I snag my first 2001 World title. To do it in this league would be so sweet but we havee a lot of work to do.
3. Even though we're called the Yankees and playing in Yankee Stadium, we're playing like the Rays. Except I plan on winning like the Phillies this year. Of note, Pedro is off to an 11-0 start in only 51 games. Also, Halama is playing out of his mind and I think forgotten that he is John Halama. I'm not going to tell him.
4. The strategy I'm currently using is one that I worked at all 2008 in Veterans statium and now brought to Yankee Stadium. Gives my right handers a little more HR space even if it takes a little away from the lefties. My current managing style I'm using is the one that helped me come from behind and win a division title with 80 wins and still make the finals... Yes I lost that series but learned a lot. I've since used it in a full season, also with a 5 man rotation featuring Pedro and Roy, and it took me to a 95 win season (just finished last week, lost in first round in game 5 ).
