Oh sure, throw the jinx out there for me! ;)

Yeah, I was wondering whether I should tempt fate and mention that I was starting a series completely healthy. The last time I did this (about 12 games ago) it lasted less than 5 complete innings. :(

Hopefully we're starting to hit our stride. The starting pitching appears to be finally coming around.

We have our fingers crossed for tonight. 8-)

third of the way thru the season, I've tried many times and not been able to do it, but I've got a middle reliever leading the Cy Young voting!!

:)

Wish I could say the same. We're really scuffling right now, losing a lot of close games. :(

Well, it's a dice game so hopefully things will turn around.

Injury hit me hard over the weekend - out 2 outfielders, 2 infielders, and my top starter. The storming Mahoots are coming to town, too. Furcal is gone for 10 games - I knew that was coming sometime. Will see if somehow we can outslug the opponents and get a win for my #5 starter - Garland - who I was hoping would never see the light of day.

Rolling well after sweeping the sandbaggers in their park. 18-9 in the last 27 games.

Joe thanks for the advice on my relievers. It has made a difference.

Now if Ryan Howard could just get hot...

Claw,

What advice was that? :? I hate helping teams in my division. ;)

Got any advice for our SPs? They are really underperforming presently.

Not to mention the nearly $25 mil tied up in Utley, Sizemore and A rod. None of which is hitting over .252. :(

Let's just say, we have room to improve. ;)

Joe-
It was very general but I was able to read between the lines...Fuentes was not getting enough innings so I released Howell and picked up Qualls. Made Fuentes the set up man both ways and closer against lefties. Left open select a closer against righties. Put mop up for Burton and Robertson. So far so good.

I don't play in many leagues but it seems to be the year of platoons. At least you have Anderson, he is a beast. Even for my team. I am sitting Howard against lefties and depending on the park DH either Keppinger/Tracy. They are both serviceable right now.

Talk to you later.

major shake up

Postby theClaw » Thu May 14, 2009 7:33 am

couldn't stand pat after this recent 9 game skid. Thought I could get by without a #1 starter but in a hitter's park it is not possible. Got my man in Halliday but the make up of my team has been altered. Added a platoon in right. Either wasn't hitting and neither was hardy so i cut their cards. Improved my defense and obp. and team speed. I will see what happens...may have crippled my team. The fact of the matter was that I wasn't going to make the playoffs with that group so I had not much to lose.[/b]

crs76 - That 32-8 line-up is a stronger group, especially if you are playing that team in a homerun ballpark like The Cell or Great American - Napoli for Martinez and Bradley for Guillen are both definite upgrades. I think Bradley is one of the best values in the set, especially if he plays the DH. I am not sure though that the second group is that much better - part of that difference must be due to chance. In fact, no lineup I put together is usually good enough to go 32-8!

Claw - Those are some gutsy moves less than halfway through the season. Hope it works out for you!
