SBDL Discussion

Postby emart » Fri Jun 01, 2012 12:15 pm

We haven't discussed this yet, but my assumption is that everything would start over, regardless of what happens with this season.

We would follow the guidelines in the constitution for establishing the league.

Here is the relevant section:

[i:ef99852058][b:ef99852058]Section B: League and Initial Team Creation[/b:ef99852058]

[b:ef99852058]1. League creation[/b:ef99852058]
a. The ATG 6 player set is divided by letters of players’ surnames as well as by hitter and pitcher. See Appendix 1.
b. Base player pool is 12 letter groupings of which at least four must be hitters and four must be pitchers.
c. The base player pool is created by a single-round draft in which each manager selects one grouping to be added to the pool.
d. Draft order for the league creation is by a randomizer, to be solicited on the main ATG forum.
e. Divisional alignment to be determined by input of all managers.

[b:ef99852058]2. Initial team creation[/b:ef99852058]
a. Live draft is 14 rounds, consisting of 13 players and one ballpark.
b. Draft order is overall winning percentage of SBDL career. Worst-to-first, serpentine.
c. Draft to be conducted on http://www.diamonddope.com or similar automated draft Web site.[/i:ef99852058]

I realize I am new and have little right to say much, but I am getting a little bit of a mixed picture about going forward....

I would really appreciate a DEFINITIVE answer to what is going to happen after this season. If we are starting over, please state exactly what that means. If there is ANYTHING other than a complete start from scratch, it would be nice to know. Scratch meaning no players on roster, no park affiliation, no divisions, no initially scratched players in the pool....no history basically is what I take away from "scratch".

[b:df19c18aca]Don't these conflict with each other, never noticed this before but I wasn't an original member, unless the league creation part is for the randomizer to determine divisions?/ and not draft position. Or it would seem the winning percentage method was for when the league was already in process, in other words after the first season. I'm sure Bill can clarify the intent from the rules.[/b:df19c18aca]

I saw the same thing JOE... would seem a complete blank page start would tend to point to #1 and not #2

Sorry guys, I'm not going to be around for the next two days, so if I'm not responsive that's why.

Joe - As I read those sections, the first draft is for the [b:e0f6e3b4e8]player pool[/b:e0f6e3b4e8] - randomized. The second draft is for team composition from that player pool - by pct.

And then the divisions can be set by whatever method the majority prefers, but I would suggest by randomizer.

Novie, I understand what you're saying. We had a rather extended conversation between seasons last time and we deferred it until the time arrives. We also just changed commissioners.

[b:0cc6ff1b14]Gents: I propose that we follow the league constitution established by Palanion for creation of the new league, as written. That would establish a new player pool by draft, new teams and ballparks by draft, and new division alignment. [/b:0cc6ff1b14]

That seems to be a completely fresh start, right?

Again, I'll be unavailable for the rest of the day and tomorrow for the most part, so if I don't comment that's why. :)

Eric I can see where it can be read that way where we're randomizing draft order for managers to pick letter groupings.

Here is the link I have to the league rules -

http://palanion.angelfire.com/sbdl/league-rules.html

The number of players has increased since then. Below is an update on the number of players in each letter grouping as outlined by Bill.

For what it is worth, while not an original member of this group, I have had a great time playing in this league with all of you and look forward to many more seasons!
8-)
