My pleasure - nice to be a little closer to the rest of the league even if I am still in the cellar - of course I am sure qksilver has a different opinion. ;)

Ugh, we lose 2 of 3 tonight and leave 10 against Webb and 13 (!) against Zambrano. I *thought* this team had power as Teixeira, Valentin, Guiel, J Rod, and Shelton all have 7-8 BPHRs, but so far it's been a power shortage, we're next to last in HRs and, despite hitting .276, last in runs scored. Ugh. Hopefully that'll get better. If not, it's going to be a looooong season.

Actually, with the way our pitching has gone, it's amazing we're anywhere near .500 so far. I guess I should be thankful. :(

If only my pitchers could hit!

They are doing a great job learning about hitting from watching the other team this past few series.

I may need to get a *change* on in the bullpen soon!

Thought you guys might find this interesting:

[quote:e8b48a2283]Dear ESPN, I am filing for divorce
(From The Sports Frog Blog on Deadzone.com)

I have carefully thought this through and I believe a divorce is our only
resolution. I have been loyal and faithful to you and you have shit on me,
cheated, lied, took 5 months to send me a check and you won’t let me see some of
my friends anymore.

You took away David Aldridge and foisted Screaming A on me. From a
thoughtful, insightful, coherent reporter to a screaming clown who is nothing less
than a thug wannabe.

You finally began having blogs for some of your writers, three years after
blogs became relevant, and you put them all on Insider. Boston Pete goes
inside. So does Neyer. [b:e8b48a2283]You give Joe Morgan a column and you refuse to put that
Inside, thusly infecting millions of minds with his egotistical drivel and
complete disregard for facts. [/b:e8b48a2283] He still thinks Billy Beane wrote Moneyball.

SportsCenter went from a highlight show to an hour of self-promotion of the
preening anchors. Trey Wingo now hawks the ESPN Mobile phone that the WSJ
says less than 10,000 have sold. (I can get what I need free from Google via
text, thanks anyways.) Suzi is selling Chevys and Mayne is in an empty stadium
denouncing the Gecko.

I remember Sunday nights with Patrick and Olberman being a smart, funny, hip
program. There is nothing left on your networks that fits that description.
Allowing Bonds on Bonds to air on your network (Barry owned a piece of the
production company) eroded the last bit of credibility you had.

How you have managed to not fuck up PTI is the only thing that amazes me at
this point.

Simmons has lost major velocity on his fastball due to his Hollywood sell
out. Skip Bayless shouldn’t be allowed to write a grocery list. Page 2 is a
collaboration of some very unfunny, barely talented people.

[b:e8b48a2283]Cold Pizza was a failure of previously unknown proportions, making Chevy
Chase feel better about his show. You recently had Larry the Cable Guy on Cold
Pizza because he voiced a car in the Disney movie Cars. Was Hillary Duff too
busy for the show ?[/b:e8b48a2283]

And what's the latest ESPN original programming? Darts !!! [b:e8b48a2283] $#%^ing Darts.
I guess with Domino season being over you had to find something to put on the
air.[/b:e8b48a2283]

Your NFL soap opera show, whatever it was named, was pulled because you didn’t have the balls to look Tagliabue in the eye and stand your ground. If you
thought the show was good then run it. If you were worried it was offensive
then why bother to air it to begin with ?

I even used to like Chris Berman. I may have been the last one out there that did. There is no way he should be calling games, it is utter torture.

Some of the ones that got away from your evil grasp seem to be flourishing elsewhere. Jimmy Roberts, Robin Roberts, Gayle Gardner, Charlie Stenier.

The continual prostitution of air time. The silver bullet 6 pack of
questions. The Budwiser hot seat. The Miller Lite moment of dead air. [b:e8b48a2283]What next, today's beaning brought to you by Advil? Webgems by Spiderman 3?[/b:e8b48a2283]
I loved you for a long time. I was devoted and caring. And now even your
MLB gametracker is Inside. Well [b:e8b48a2283]I don’t want to go Inside, frankly it scares me.[/b:e8b48a2283]

I just want to get away from you and not see your anchors pimping out the
next shitty Disney sports movie. Synergy my ass. “Daddy, I wanna race” “
Daddy, I wanna race” “Daddy, I wanna race” “Daddy, I wanna race” “Daddy, I
wanna race” “Daddy, I wanna race”.

My advice, hire Peter King because he will fit right in. And add about
thirty more ombudsmen while you are at it. As far as I am concerned we are
finished.

BTW sandy, did you get to see any of the Mets/Braves series this weekend? The Mets sent theBraves packing, so much for all their talk about still being in the division hunt.

I'm losing a lot of 1 run games, four in a row at one point. So no panicing yet, but need to start winning some of the close ones.

So would I, that's what made this sweep so sweet. I'm hoping it means The Mets have turned a corner. Nothing against the Braves, I have a lot of respect for what Sherholtz and Cox have accomplished, but when I heard they were still considering they had a shot at winning the division early last week, it pissed me off, and apparently pissed off the Mets as well. They teed off on Braves pitching over the weekend, especially Beltran.
Of course Mets killer, Chipper Jones was out of the line up for 2 games, so maybe I should take it with a grain of salt , but I'll still take it.

BTW reports out of New York this morning, have the Mets aquiring either Schmidt or Oswalt for Millledge stay tuned...

And speaking of deals, Detroit just Aquired Sean Casey from the Pirates and optioned Chris Shelton to the minors, so much for his hot April...

I don't think ANYBODY in the same shoes would have said they [b:c80444c253]didn't [/b:c80444c253]have a shot at the Division. With over 2 months to go you can't concede at that point, no one can.

Count me as one who jumped on Shelton's bandwagon in April. I knew he obviously couldn't keep up the torrid pace, but I thought he was ready for a good year, even hit .300. That said, Casey won't be much better, if any. With Detroit's overly-cautiousness on the basepaths Casey will hit into tons of DP's. He does, however, fit the park better than Shelton. Chris will be back up soon, just sending a little message they expect better IMO.

Sean Casey will be back in Cleveland soon enough with all the recent garbage deals Shapiro loves to work.

Hmmm ... a list of former Indian players still productive (or somewhat productive)

RF: Manny
CF: Coco
LF: Sexson (he looked lost out there!)
DH: Brian Giles

3B: Open
SS: Omar (he made a nice salsa in the cleveland market)
2B: Kent / Brandon Philips (one good season, ah!)
1B: Thome / Casey
Utility: Carlos Baerga

C: Anyone

SP: Colon
SP: ???
RP: ???

GM: John Hart
Coach: Mike "Human Rain Delay" Hargrove

Not sure about the pitching arms since most releases have been good for one season and then bust

Actually semp, you could move Thome to 3rd, he came up there but moved because of Dean Palmer.
