The Draft/Aavailability Player List/Rosters

Postby timklucinec » Mon Apr 04, 2011 1:32 pm

Gentleman,
Drew has finished the Rosters/Availability Player List ect.
He has added tabs so you can select the Options you desire to view. The Availability Player List has its own Tab including the Players that are already owned so you can compare them on the same page. Let's have a big shout out and kudos to Drew as he has done an outstanding job. He or I will email the Rosters etc to everyone shortly. In case he & I missed a player, please bring it to our attention so it can be corrected. I would like to shoot for Sunday April 10 to begin the Annual Free Agent Draft and get ready to play some ball!

Question. Does this league have a players available draft and then a prospect draft or are both available players and prospects eligible to drafted?

Frank,

Here are the rules:

Here is a copy of the rules:
Since we are preseason, I took the liberty of making some small changes to simplify the rules. Those changes are bolded. Once the draft has begun, all rule changes must be by league vote.
RULES
INITIAL DRAFT
1)The initial draft is a 41 round live draft, the order to be determined by state lottery results.
2)Rounds 1 through 40 are for players.
3) Round 41 is for the stadium, in the Initial Draft only. Order will be in reverse of the first round of the Initial Draft.
4) Only those players who were issued SOM cards for the current season and appear on TSN"s website are eligible for the initial draft.
5) The initial draft is serpentine.
6) Draft picks are tradeable.
7) All drafts, Initial, Annual and Prospect will be conducted with no clock for the first round, and a 3-hour clock for subsequent rounds. If a manager fails to draft within the 3 hours, the next person is free to make a pick. (we encourage managers to draft evn faster by using the proxy feature at somdraft) clock runs 10am-10pm EST
The manager who was skipped may make his pick at any time, choosing from the players not yet picked.

ANNUAL FREE AGENT DRAFT
1) A non-serpentine free agent draft of at least 10, and up to 15 rounds, will be held each year shortly after TSN/SOM cards are released.
2) Only those players who were issued SOM cards for the current season and appear on TSN’s website are eligible for the draft.
3) Draft order is determined by cumulative win/loss records. Reverse order, worst-record first, NFL style.
4) Prior to the draft, all owners must drop enough players to bring their rosters to a maximum of 30 players allowing for 10 draft picks; Owners can drop below 30 players, but must not have less than 25 prior to the draft.
5) Player drops must be announced prior to the beginning of the Annual draft.
6) All owners must have a full 40 man roster upon completion of the Annual draft.
7) There is no clock for Round 1 of each Annual Free Agent draft. All subsequent rounds will operate with a 3 hour clock.

PROSPECT DRAFT
1) After the Initial draft, and after each year's Annual Free Agent draft, there will be a three round Prospect Draft.
2) Each team will be able to select 3 prospects, which is any player who DID NOT RECEIVE A CARD ON THE TSN website in this year or any other year, and is the property of an MLB team.
3) The initial prospect draft is serpentine. Draft order for the initial Prospect draft will be the reverse of the draft order for the Initial Free Agent draft and is serpentine. All subsequent prospect drafts are non-serpentine,
and draft order is based on the previous season's regular season records.
4) Owners lose rights to all prospects that they release; Released prospects are eligible to be drafted as either a) Free Agents if they were issued SN cards or b) prospects again if never issued SN cards.
5) There is no clock for Round 1 of each prospect draft. All subsequent rounds will operate with a 3 hour clock.
6) Individual owners are responsible for their own prospect research.

* Note there are a few players who can be drafted in neither the regular or prospect drafts during the first year, because they have no 2009 card, but did have a past card (Sheets and Webb are two examples) they will be available in the first year in which they have a card again.

SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFT
1) A Supplemental Free Agent draft of up to 3 rounds will be held between seasons 1 and 2 of each calendar year.
2) All owners must announce their roster drops (up to 3) prior to the Supplemental draft.
3) Owners may draft no more than 3 players; Owners are not required to draft any players during the Supplemental draft
4) Supplemental Free Agent drafts are non-sepentine; Supplemental Free Agent draft order is the reverse of the previous season's regular season record.
5) There is no clock for Round 1 of the Supplemental Free Agent draft. All subsequent rounds will operate with a 3 hour clock.
6) The Supplemental Free Agent draft is only 3 rounds. Owners with less than a full roster may use the Supplemental Free Agent Draft to get back to a 40 man roster provided they can do it within 3 rounds. There will
never be more than 36 picks made in the Supplemental draft.
7) Only those players who were issued SOM cards for the current season and appear on TSN’s website are eligible for the draft.Y
If you trade for or trade away supplemental draft picks, you need to drop as many players as you plan to draft, if you have traded for two extra picks, then you you mist drop 5 players if you wish to use all 5 of your draft picks. If you traded away 2 supplemental picks, then you may only drop ne player to make your onw draft choice
DRAFT ORDER

1) The first 3 choices of the first round of each draft will not be decided purely by reverse order of finish, but by an NBA style weighted lottery of all non-playoff teams. Before each draft, regular, supplemental, and prospect
(except for the initial draft)We will check the pick 3's on 5 states, Arizona, California, Wisconsin, New York, and Ohio, in that order. The Arizona numbers will determine the first draft choice by checking the last two
numbers in the pick 3.
00-01 5th place team
02-04 6th place team
05-09 7th place team
10-16 8th place team
17-26 9th place team
27-41 10h place team
42-65 11th place team
66-99 12th place team

California will determine the 2nd draft choice, unless the same team is chosen to draft as was in Arizona, you keep going down the order of states until 1st, 2nd and 3rd picks have been assigned. The rest of the first round
(and all subsequent rounds) simply go in reverse order of finish.) if by the end of the 5 states. all 3 picks have not been assigned then we just go in reverse order of finish for the picks that are left.

ROSTERS
1) Each team must carry no more than a 40 man roster. In the event a transaction sends an owner's roster above the 40 man limit, said owner is allowed 1 day to release as many players as necessary to get back to
the 40 man limit. However if an owner has less than 40 players due to uneven trades, the owner cannot bring his roster to the full 40 until the Annual Draft.
2) The regular season begins with a standard 25-man active roster. The remaining 15 players on the roster are the sole property of the team that drafted them, and may not be used by any other team; they are
considered to be in your minors, even though teams will have to “release” them into the Free Agent pool, since SN is not set up for keeper leagues.
3) In the event of injuries, it is not necessary to release the injured player. A replacement may be called up for the duration of the injury, but he, or another player, must be returned to the minors (Free Agent) before
the next series. (Managers are responsible for doing this on the honor system.)
4) Each team may add an additional 3 players (to a maximum of 28 players) to their MLB roster once game 132 has been played.
5) There are no limits to transactions between an owner's major and minor league rosters except those internal to the SOM game engine.
7) The minimum roster size is 30 players. The only exceptions are during the supplemental and free agent draft periods.
8) All teams must meet SOM roster requirements at all times.

LEAGUE SETUP
1)Salary cap is $200M, roster moves unlimited, FA drops 10%.
2) We will use the DH.
3) We'll play 2 seasons per year - one beginning in March or April, one in early July.
4) Divisional assignments will change each season. Initially, divisions will be determined in order of signup: 1-4 East, 5-8 Central, 9-12 West.
5) Divisional assignments for each subsequent season (from season one to two within calendar year and from season 2 to the following calendar year) will be determined by the final win/loss records of the previous
season, with the four best teams in the East division, the following four in the Central, and the remaining four in the West.
6) The league Commish shall maintain a record of all drafts, transactions and player movements and provide a copy to any owner on request.
7) All ties between teams will be broken by the previous season's head to head win/loss records. If this does not break the tie, cumulative win/loss head to head records will be used.
8) All rule changes must pass by a super majority - 8 owners or more.
9) There are no specific rules against "roster dumping." Owners no longer in a pennant race can use their best judgement in determining the makeup of their team, provided that all general roster size limits are met.
However, it is expected that all owners will act in the best interests of the game.

STADIUM RULES
1) Each player will draft a stadium during Round 41 of the Initial Free Agent draft.
2) Stadium draft order will be the reverse of Round 1 of the Initial Free Agent draft.
3) Team can change stadiums, but they can only be changed a maximum of once in three years. The stadium change must be made when there is no season in progress. Changes can be made first come,
first served, by posting a notice on the message board. Players may trade stadiums with other players at any time except while a season is in progress.

PROSPECT RULES
1) The maximum number of prospects allowed for each team is 10.
2) Prospects are not counted as part of the 40 man roster while they maintain their prospect status.
Removed 2 year limit on keeping prospects
3) Prospects can be traded.
4) Prospects can be promoted to the major league roster at any time, provided there is roster space available. Once promoted all prospects lose their prospect status, and cannot be demoted back to
prospect status.
5)You may add a prospect to your roster after you drop players but before the season's free agent draft and then draft one less player.

PLAYER MOVEMENT
1) TRADES are allowed and encouraged. Trades must be posted by both owners on the league website before they can be enacted. The trading of draft picks is also authorized. Unbalanced trades
(two for one, three for two, etc) are authorized provided that the 40 man roster limit is maintained at all times; in the event of an unbalanced trade the owner of the team whose roster exceeds the 40 man limit is allowed
1 day to release player(s) to get back to the 40 man limit.
You draft as many rounds as it takes to fill your roster to 40. (not all owners may draft in every round) You may not trade draft picks after the 10th round
2) There are NO free agent pickups during the season. This means that if you wish to do a 2-for-1 trade, the team getting back one player does not get to replace the player they lost on their 40-man roster until after
the season, through the Annual or Supplemental Draft.
3) Prospects can be activated and promoted to the major league roster during the regular season provided there is roster space available to do so. Players with a full 40 man roster cannot promote a prospect until
there is room available to do so.
4) Regular players on the 40 man roster cannot be released in order to promote a prospect while a season is in progress.
5) Regular players can be released from the 40 man roster only for the following: a) pre-draft release prior to Annual Free Agent draft; b) pre-draft release prior to Supplemental free agent draft; c) to bring a roster down to
the 40 man limit as a result of an unbalanced transaction.

PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE SN SOM GAME ENGINE RULES:
At all times, you must have at least 24 players and no more than 28 players on your roster.
You must have at least 13 and no more than 17 hitters.
At least two of those hitters must be eligible to play catcher.
You must have at least 10 and no more than 12 pitchers.
You must have at least 5 pitchers who have starting pitcher Endurance ratings (e.g. S7).
You must have at least 4 "pure" relievers (i.e. a relief rating (e.g. R2) but no starter rating).
You must have at least 1 pitcher who has a closer Endurance rating (e.g. C4).
After Game 142 rosters cannot be changed.

PLAYOFFS
At the end of the 162-game regular season, the 3 Division Winners plus the Wild Card team advance to the 2-round Playoffs. The Wild Card team is the team that has the best record among teams that did not win
their division.

The Playoffs consists of a Semi-Finals (best of 5 games) and a Finals (best of 7 games).

Any idea on when we can start the draft?

I am travelling Sunday all day and hope to at least have the first few rounds in by then.

With no clock in the first round can we start today? No one will miss a pick due to the clock and we can get started.

Annual Free Agent Draft

Postby timklucinec » Tue Apr 05, 2011 9:33 pm

JMP1,
If everyone had a chance to look at the 2010 Cards and the Availability Players List we can start earlier. What say the majority? I'm in Philadelphia on a family emergency, but I have computer access and can run the draft from here. BTW, Hart & Pena are NOT on the Availability Players List.
