NLD 13 Draft thread

[b:f4f4973a3f]Wow![/b:f4f4973a3f]

Semper Gumby and the Cleveland boys start out the 2006 version of NLD with a bang! Jake Peavy allowed just two walks to Brian Giles and no-hit the ArrylT team last night in their own ballpark. In fact, the SG team allowed only 1 run and 9 hits in the entire series!

In an report appearing on the website of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, it is rumored that Semper Gumby, in reaction to his team's stellar play, has ordered that the remaining 153 games on the Jarheads schedule will be played away from home. The Plain Dealer was quite careful to emphasize that these reports were speculation only and were unconfirmed by Cleveland management as of 1:30 am Eastern time Thursday morning.

nice no-no by Peavy, Semp. That nasty rotation of yours paid big dividends on the road last night.

Finally... the offense shows up, the bully leaves the gas cans at home, and the Mystics take three on the road from the previously un-defeated Hawks squad. Now if i can just get the table setters rolling. at any rate, much better.... :)

My TEAM batting avg is BELOW .200 right now. My OBP is BELOW .300! My SLG is BELOW .300!!!

I wasnt expecting them to be Murderers Row or anything, but I did feel I had built a decent lineup to play at SAFECO. Well it is only 9 games, so hopefully it is just a lot of bad die rolls. My pitching, backed probably by one of the best defenses in the league, has started off on the right foot - but they cannot win any games if my hitters wont hit!

Joe,

Before your stats, I had a 78-84 record.

I am now [b:6341b341ab]344-283 [/b:6341b341ab](5 teams active) with three teams in first place and the other two in second place. I play 50% private leagues where my manager rating is roughly 25% of the league average.

So, I assume that answers your question .... a [b:6341b341ab]HUGE DIFFERENCE[/b:6341b341ab].

Time to make some changes

I loved [b:3694866548]Moise Alou's [/b:3694866548]card but I forecasted that he'd spend a little too much time on the DL when [b:3694866548]Larry Walker[/b:3694866548] decided to take a vacation.

While my team couldn't hit water if it fell out of the boat, I know bad things will happen soon enough.

[b:3694866548]Wickman[/b:3694866548] had a short stint with the team and he had a nice card for my park. However, I realized his +9 and fielding ratings didn't help [b:3694866548]Victor Martinez[/b:3694866548] behind the plate.

I liked the look of Jason Tyner's card but he hits nothing but singles.

Semp I just think you have a goal of having all 100 slots on the transaction page say

My Goals

Postby Semper Gumby » Thu Apr 13, 2006 1:25 pm

(1) Corner the transaction listing by pasting my name everywhere

(2) Ruin Joe's rating sheet with more changes :P

(3) Keep the league honest with constant changes to my line-up. 5% charge is nothing when you don't mind changing at 20% charges

(4) See how much noise I can toss on the boards to keep the NLD fun :D

Tough to dig out of an 0-3 hole, as even if I win my 3rd straight series tonight I'll be even at 6-6. I'll take it though.

Actually I feel this squad can compete and challenge for the division. I do have to get my staff ERA under 7 though.
