It couldn't be worse than Troy Glaus playing SS. And yes, I know he played SS in college, but at this point in his career, on bum knees to boot, a Major League shortstop!

9'r,

You're right about Thome's initial position but not many Indian fans recall him lumbering over at 3B as a much lighter "Jim Thome".

I have his rookie card and he looks a good 30 lbs smaller.

Jim is too much of hopplehead to take the candy.

While he may have a great swing, he didn't have a great way of speaking / thinking.

He had to be the only Cleveland Indian who could fully understand Charlie Manuel.

Have you ever listen to an interview with Charlie?

Geez!

Actually, take a look at almost any player's rookie picture versus their picture in their late 30's. Men mature. It's natural. Ever see what Ted Williams looked like as a rookie? He was a rail.

For Jim Thome, I want to say he morphed big in less than 5 years (right before he moved to 1st base).

Otherwise, I weigh less now than I did in high school (i'm 6'2" plus still and over 40 y.o.s.)

I'm in my 40's and I weigh approx. 65 more lbs than I did my Senior year in H.S. (150 TO 215)

Niner - you see I have BOTH Kotsay AND Gibbons OUT for tonight's series. Repko will be in CF and J. Hernandez will be in RF

I need some kind of provision like they have in NASCAR when they fail to qualify. Maybe play Kotsay tonight and Gibbons tomr. night. Hey, that's a thought. :?
