NLD 16 Role call and Check in

Postby superflymacdaddyjuice » Fri Jul 13, 2007 4:34 pm

Thanks for the input and the time Joe. Any ideas as to how my pitching over performed your ratings so dramatically? Perhaps some of the same reasons my Off. underperformed? (parks??)

I think that i got almost exactly what i expected from all of my pitchers. So i am confused why they rated so poorly. I did do a little worse with A Sanchez than I thought. But that was picked up by a white hot start from cain.

On offense, The only real under-performer was Dye. Although I have used thames frequently and never had him hit below mendoza. (his HR and RBI stats were right on) I did have some under-performers on OBP (relative to my expectations only.) Dye, Atkins and Utley. IMHO Chipper Jones is simply not priced right. He is the man. I still think this even though he has only batted once for me in the Play-offs so far.

This was my worst fielding team ever but it did not seem to hurt too much...I am starting to concern myself less and less with D with the exception of SS, CF and 2B.

I am amazed Riggo won like he did. I guess even in Strat good pitching rules...

Smokey,

remember the rating I gave you above was pitching+fielding. Your pitching was probably fine, but your D stunk. Lucky for you, it appears that you got the breaks on the X Chart and that's why your pitching likely overperformed. Parks obviously play a part, but I did adjust for your schedule. However, I do believe the SOMO parks are more extreme than the board game.

Offensively it may be a case of your parks, or that others just over performed their numbers and pushed you down to #4. Hard to say w/o looking closer. One thing I don't take into account is the opposition so, if you have really good pitching teams in your division (or another guy has lousy ones) you might see a discrepancy.

All I have time for now. Leaving on vacation and won't return until 7/21.

The first round of the next draft will have no clock right???

I'll drink a cerveza to you boys while I'm in Mazatlan. :D 8)

Adios,

Jet
p.s. I'll try to check in once more tonight

I'm drunk as a skunk (INXS Rocks) so I just want to say that I think we all agree that JTJ's team stunk.

Wow if I'd known I'd have won 2 games on the road tonight I'd have drunk more beer ... then again more beer = puke ... and puking is no fun. Winning SOM games is fun. My head is starting to hurt so I think I'll go get a drink ... but I'll leave you with this profound thought.

sweet. i lost two games at my house tonight to hendrickson and cabrera. I lost game four by giving up five runs in the ninth. I also got chipper back for a portion of one game and lost him again. i also lost my by josh johnson for the series... It looks as though I will have to wait for my first NLD title.

Nice job AT.

Never say never ... I was down 3-1 in the FRKL World Series and came back to win it, and the last BTT80s & 2006 WS I was in, I led both 3-1 and lost both.

The good news is that I did not wake up with a hangover - the bad news is I cannot figure out what I was thinking last night.

Well smokey won last night - proving this series is far from over. If I don't win tonight I expect smokey to take it in 7.

Well sometimes you win when you least expect it, but I guess it makes sense that I win the 1st NLD of the 07 card set, since I did win the 1st NLD of the 06 card set.

Although the 2 teams were designed completely different, they did have one thing in common, and that was that I left them pretty much alone despite slow starts, and they turned it around in time to make the playoffs.

Since I did win, I'm not going to trade out of the 1st round, like I would have if I had lost, mainly because I like having the corner spot. If I had finished 9th, 10th or 11th then I would have done so (assuming I could find an owner to pay the low price I'd have asked).

The main reason I was going to trade out of the 1st round was to see how well I could do without a top pick. Since I ended up only using 14 of my 20 draft picks, and dropped my 2nd, 3rd & 7th round picks, I was curious to see how well my team could do sans a 1st round pick. Guess that will just have to wait til the next NLD. :)
