We still haven't heard back from majic, but I'm assuming the phrase "able to use him" was poorly understood by me. Re-reading it, I think buster and jp is absolutely right in assuming that means we can only trade for players who played for our franchise at some point.

Dan, you don't have to put Grich or Hornsby on your draft card just because you protected them. You could also draft them and look for a trading partner. Grich only played for the Os, but Hornsby also played for the Giants, Cubs, Braves, and Cardinals. It might be tough to trade him, though, since he's so expensive and we're in just an $80M league.

In terms of where/when we draft, it looks like the following managers still have to declare two franchise-carded players for Round 5:

majicmg (Indians)
Cubs48 (Twins)

After that, FAaron will be up for Round 6.

I would guess we should finish some time this weekend and hopefully have the draft some time before Thanksgiving. Maybe this is too optimistic???

Idanred still has to make a steal pick in Round 4 as well as the two owners who have two guys to protect in Round 5.

Teams can start drafting in Round 6 as long the players are not carded to the Twins and Indians (until those teams make their Round 5 selections) or have ever played for a franchise that is drafting before them. Here's the Round 6 draft order.

ROUND 6

rosenthm (Giants) -
jpgavin (White Sox) -
andycummings (Phillies) -
ldanred (Orioles) -
Cubs48 (Twins) -
Pjatscfy (Braves) -
majicmg (Indians) -
Novie (Pirates) -
buster j ratt (Tigers) -
AeroDave10 (Cubs) -

Just my opinion, but the league is call "Franchise League". No player should be on a team he didn't play for in real life. That goes for all 16 seasons. It would defeat the whole purpose of the league. A league, I might add, that has been really fun so far.
