Jury's out - too many "what ifs" for me to really like it, but I feel it had to be made. Pineda could be something really special - he's special now, but could be even better. Or he could blow out his elbow or shoulder some year.

Montero seems to be something special as a hitter already, and face it - the M's were desperate. If he's only able to DH I would have preferred a one-for-one swap rather than add Campos, who could also be something special. Not familiar with Noesi, who seems destined for middle relief or back end of the rotation with no much more upside.

If Montero can catch effectively ala Posada or Piazza then I think it's a good swap of similar talent. If Montero can only DH I give the edge to the Yanks.

But when you deal from desperation you get what you can get - and Montero is probably the best get we could have got... :P
