jamesgang,

Chuck Ward will not be eligible to put on the Rust Belt Post War team. He belongs to the PIT-db era team. Ivy Olson is also ineligible, since he's with the CLE-db group.

You must select someone from the PIT-post, PIT-exp, CIN-post, CIN-exp, CLE-post, or CLE-exp groupings.

I would suggest SS Dick Groat.

The DH does [b:15a8b568d8]NOT [/b:15a8b568d8]have to be a 162 game player... he can be a platoon.

The screw player is the only one who must be in your lineup everyday.

Just re-read the rules from the league mail.

I sure hope Frank E. Thompson is the new 3B of the St. Louis team. With his 4e54, he should easily beat out Brubaker for the stone hands award. I guess we'll await warrenbob52's ruling. Where are warrenbob52 and danielz???

Aye to all of the above. You can use platoons, but since when the substitution is made only one player can be deleted, you should only expose one player per position until the substitution is made.Incidentally, Novie. I assumed that you would list Yount as your shortstop, and he has been deleted. Since he only plays shortstop this won't make a huge difference, but it just now occurs to me that if a Screw player gets injured, anybody can play for him during the injury, and we certainly wouldn't want that to be Yount, would we? That might hurt Timmy's feelings. :D

Frank Thompson would actually be a blessing as a Scrubstitute, an alternate term I am now officially coining for the Screw player. He can actually make a positive contribution as a veritable on base beast against lefties. I have used him as a DH platoon often, especially in low cap leagues. He is pretty weak against righties, and a bad fielder, but at third, it is less of an issue than, say SS or CF, or having a +5 thrower at catcher. The ideal Screw player is bad in ALL phases of the game while also depriving your opponent of one of his stars. I am ashamed...ASHAMED!... that I could not do better than sticking Novie with Tim Johnson. He can bunt! He will probably squeeze in a winning run against me at some point this year....Subbing for Greenberg on my team...and also being reminded that Hornsby is actually a Cardinal...drastically effected my team concept, but doing this before the teams were drafted allowed me to change my stadium from Bennett to a 10-10-2-2 Comiskey. I would have been screwed a lot more if we had gone ahead with the draft first. Something to think about if we ever repeat this theme. CW
