That is correct, the owner with the 1st pick overall, in this case Red Beards, ends up with the last pick in Round III, which in essence means that the 1st pick overall is very important as you don't pick again for 23 picks, and then you only get what is left over in the FA Pool.

Should hopefully have my pick made by noon.

I think I would rather be in Red Beard's position getting to use the FA pool rather than get stuck with the last undrafted team for my 3rd pick.

Hopefully there will be at least one useful player on that last team :(

Nothing to worry about. Unlike special seasons (like '69 and the 2001-6 seasons), there are no useless teams in the set. Even the worst team in NL ATGIII has at least 2 or 3 useful players. True, it would be better to cherry-pick the FA pool, but then, you did get to take the second pick in the draft. :P

Yes but Red Beards gets the 1st overall pick AND the run of the FA pool. :( I'm jealous. :P

If there are concerns re: Round III Draft order we can do 1 of a few things:

(a) See how Season I plays out and make alterations for the remaining season

(b) Change Round III order this season to something like

i - 1-12
ii - 11-1,2 (making #2 last overall)
iii - completely random

Note: I would only do that with a large majority of consent - including Red Beards

(c) Make FA's from the 2 team owner (Red Beards) available to everyone - just as all of our FA's are available to him. Note: Our own FA would still be off limits to everyone except ourselves & Red Beards.

(d) Other suggestion

Hopefully there shouldn't be too too many good players left - since we're playing with 1/2 a player pool (750 players approx) & 100m rather than 80m.

But obviously since this is the first time we've tried something like this - won't know until it actually starts.
