That was the first question I asked about when I saw Mauer had a higher price tag than Pujols.

Rather than using actual plate appearances, SOM apparently just adds ABs and BBs and Mauer falls one short.

I guess I don't get the issue. You get to "reserve" three players through the live draft, RiggoDrill is just saying he doesn't want to. Even if he picked players here, he could always just drop them in the waiver wire/free agent frenzy.

That said, I just sent him an e-mail letting him know you object to him not drafting. I'm hoping he'll just send me a list of players he might be interested in and I can put them in when it's his turn. (Others could do this as well.)

Or, he could just pick three worthless .50 players and use all the cap later, if that's his strategy.

I don't really see how this works to his advantage in any way; we actually get players we WANT; they go at the bottom of the draft list anyway.

That said, nobody wants anybody to drop out. Hopefully something can be worked out here.

[quote:5b6aafdef3]I disagree with allowing someone to not pick anyone. That person will have 25 spots to grab cheap players while the rest of us have 22 spots.

If riggo chooses to forgo his picks, then why not assign him with the most expensive player available on the draft, like we do with dummy draft picks.

Consider me to drop if the commish goes along with allowing anyone to not pick any player.

there you go.

In fact, whatever. I didn't know I was in a Riggo-beats-the-crowd theme league. Had I known, I would have not participated. But I don't want to penalize the other 22 guys.

I just don't like that move, period.

I have a question. This way RiggoDrill participates. How about expanding to an 8 round draft. As I see it (and I have never been in a 24 team league especially with the limited player pool). I am afraid that teams could be very hard to fix with waivers given the small player pool
We still have time to Fix this

Yes. It could be a week with only the four rounds. Although I'm not wildly anxious to start getting my behind kicked (or should I say, lessons given?) by all you SOM studs here , it would be nice to get the season going.

Fellas fellas I am completing a 3 1/2 MONTH draft in1969 cards. (3otisserie style auction) and I am one who hasn't even made one pick here yet! For the sake of having a horrible autodraft and be stuck with a team for two months, is it too much to go 8 rounds here and at least have a shell of a team?

IM all for going longer, at least 8 rounds, but it is considerably more unweildy with two dozen guys to count on. I agree the autodraft will be an absolute blood bath with all 24 of us going for a small group of players. if we were to go to a longer draft, it'd be best to go to the somdraft.com sight so we can skip and set proxies and a clock.

as for Riggo, I honestly don't think he's looking for any advantage, although he may in fact gain one. he simply doesn't want to check in periodically for however many days it's gonna get 24 pickers on the same page and to make their selections expediently. I may be naive, but don't think it's anything more than that. that said, I like the idea Al of him sending a list of guys to pick so whether he keeps them or not, he would be slotted to have them on his autodraft list so we'd all be even there.
