You might not have read the posts on previous pages, but it seems everyone continues making the same mistake and references players in ATG V. I get tired of directing people away from the brick wall ...

[quote:f85c1f1aec="warrenbob52"]Well Buster I think are hiding all your better hitters but if I read the rules right I can make you use Nippy Jones at First there by preventing George Sisler and Mark McGwire from playing there[/quote:f85c1f1aec]
The way I understood it u have to replace someone in my line-up If I'm right U can block Sisler but have to replace him with someone not in the line-up That was my purpose to get guys whos primary pos is 1B in my posted line-up Still a couple out there but not quite as bad

The way u block Sisler is replace Nippy Jones with someone else and then Sislers dead because Hornsby is DH I would have to waste a lot of $$$$ hoping HAL would bring Sisler in early every game My scrubs on roster future starters all play multiple pos so I made this so they could not be screwed---All except one Sislers not on my roster now

No! Any player can be used, including players on the roster, and in the lineup as the Scrubstitute! They must be used at their primary position, however, and the designated DH is protected.

[quote:c1fdc36433="muttdoc"]On call for the hospital and a bit worn. The cap was reduced to 125 million. The rules were simplified. The teams are drafted and each team must have a minimum total salary of 123 million. This is to prevent somebody from just hiding all of his good players until after the Screw substitution. After the Screw substitution, teams may make unlimited roster changes to try to make the best of what I hope is a diabolically bad situation. The Screw substitute must be a position player. He must be played at his primary position....the first listed on his card. Whomever is the DH may not be deleted. He [they] must play DH the entire season, barring injury. Pitchers are not eligible to be deleted. The Screw player must be listed as the starter for every game, barring injury. You MAY indicate in the managerial preferences that he is eligible to be removed for pinch hitter, pinch runner, and fielding replacement. There is no maximium or minimum salary for the screw player, who is chosen from the team's card set by the opposing GM listed numerically immediately before yours in the master list of teams for this season; for example, I am going to be selecting a player for Novie's team. At the end of the season we will vote on the Most Valuable Screw Player and the Most Invaluable Screw Player; the former is the one with the best stats, the latter is the player that contributed the most to hurting his team. I will be determining and providing appropriate awards for these players at a later date. CW[/quote:c1fdc36433]

I took prevent from hiding to mean if I could post a lineup with a legal draft list that was the one that got screwed What was the purpose of drafting the team 1st if that was not the case?

I am not sure I understand your question. I set up rules to try to prevent people from shielding all of their good players from being deleted. These rules have been simplified over the course of this thread. Currently, there are very few rules at al.l There are no limits on your roster salary cap other than the 125 final limit. There are no limits on number of player moves. The only rules are that you declare a lineup. All of the declared players in your line up are eligible to be substituted for by the screw player. Current rules do not prevent you from making up a line up of bad players. However, having players in your starting line up does not shield them from being the selected screw player, except the DH, who is protected from both deletion and use as the Screw substitute. The Screw player must be used at their primary position. The INTENTION was that one of your good players would be deleted. People have wheedled and pushed to simplify the rules, and pushed to do the substitutions before the teams were drafted and the result is that the rules have been watered down so that now it is possible to put forth a team of lesser players and have none of your stars deleted. However, fortunately, many of the better players can only play one position, so they are functionally unavailable if you are assigned a Screw substitute at their position, unless you make them DH. Everybody else has ponied up a pretty much legitimate lineup including the players they actually intend to play, understanding that this was the intention of the rules...that they were to build their teams with the disadvantages of losing one of their better players and having a bum in their lineup. So I propose a new and final rule change, that the GM substituting can delete any player from your card set that lists as primary the position which your Scrubstitute is playing, unless they are in your declared lineup at DH.

I don't think that's necessary. You said it already ... You can't "hide" a player by putting him in your lineup at a secondary position.
