NLD 12

Okay, It's March and what does that mean???

The new version of Strato coming out soon??? Yes but that's not what I meant.

It means it's March Madness Time!!!

Which for me means watching my beloved Orange try and get through the tournament. I tell you what, if they keep playing the way they did in NY for the Big East Tounrey, they'll be a tough out. Of course they'll eventually probably have to go through Duke but hey we just beat UConn, G-Town and Pitt in successive nights so anythings possible.

Overrated?! Indeed Go Orange and G-Mac. :D

I heard a rumor that 2006 would be launched this week! Let's start gathering the troops. We haven't discussed format, draft order, etc... Lots of communicating to do before we can get started! :D

Niners - Syracuse went on an incredible run in the Big East tourney. Going from the bubble to a #5 seed shows that it paid dividends. My problem with the Orange this year is that they lean so heavily on Mac. He can't be on every night, can he?

Wineman, if you've watched the Orange at all this year, you already know the answer to that question. They'll go as far as Gerry will carry them and when he has an off night shooting they usually loose. But that said, the big guys, Roberts, Watkins and even sub Goreman have really stepped up their play of late so who knows. I for one will be extremely happy if they just get out of the first weekend. Anything after that will be gravy in my book.

As for NLD things, We know they will be adding some new features including dropping clutch hitting, less penalty for in season drops etc., so I can't say for sure which ones we'll keep or drop. But assuming everything stay the same here's what I envision:

1. 20 round live draft (19 player 1 stadium)
2. Draft order based on last NLD inverse order of finish (or we can do lottery if everyone wants to)
3. 80mil
4. DH
5. No duplicate stadiums
6. We'll start after we can get everyone together and see about schedules
7. First round will be no clock
8. Subsequent rounds will be 3 Hours
9. We'll use penn's site if/when he gets the new cards imported
10. NO Clock on weekends

That should about cover it.

BTW, all you guys in the Bay area, what the hell is going on with the Niners, they actually have money to spend this year and so far the only things they've done are:

Resign Nedney ( which they needed to do)

Resign Smith ( dubious given the length of contract and his age)

Traded their top reciever, (who the hell is gonna catch the ball ) , FA's are shallow as is the draft pool for recievers this year.

Watch as the Browns and Skins seem to be signing everyone on the market.

They really seem to not have a clue what they are doing. Maybe they are being patient and looking for the right deals, but lets be real given the sorry state of the team competitivly and the lack of direction from ownership, they are going to have to throw boatloads of money at guys to get them to sign.

It looks to me like they are going to go backwards this year instead of building on the 2 wins at the end of the year. I just don't see how they can loose Peterson, and Carter and have everyone age a yeasr and be as good on Defense. They seem really high on Moore in place of Peterson and while he's a good rushers and run stuffer he's a HUGE liability in pass coveerage, especially compared to Peterson.

You're right about the Niners. They don't seem to be making any headway. I hope they have a great draft. They're going to need it.

Regarding the rules, the ones you listed look fine with me. Now if we can just get "the others" to check in (a little Lost humor). :P

Here's a recap of what is new in 2006.

What's new this year?
To those of you who have played previous editions of Strat-O-Matic Baseball Online, we're glad to see you again! We're always trying to improve our product to show you the best time we can. In this edition, we've outdone ourselves with the following great new features:
League option: Weighted Waivers
You now have the option to set up your league so that the post-draft Waiver Priority list is ordered by weight of draft picks lost, instead of just by the count.

League option: customizable Free Agent Drop Penalty
You now have the option to set up your league so that the percentage of a player's salary that is withheld upon release is different from the default 20%.

Home/Road splits
Track home and road stats for each player on your team!

Sort by Balance & Handedness in Player Lists
Sort player lists from 9L Balance to 9R, or vice versa. Or filter by right-handed pitchers only, or switch-hitting batters.

Official 2006 Players' Championship
Play in the official Strat-O-Matic 2006 Players' Championship, a non-elimination tournament that spans 5-7 leagues (your choice), culminating in a Finalists' League to crown the 2006 Champion! Compete with, and enjoy the camaraderie of a close-knit community of Strat-O-Matic Online managers. More details to be posted as they become available!

New League Roster Chart page
You can now review the rosters of all 12 teams in your league on one single page.

Sexier Front Office page
Keep up with your league's recent roster moves, and what's going on around the Strat-O-Matic Online universe, all from your Front Office page.

More stats
We've packed our stats displays with as many stats as we could fit.

New Draft/Roster Requirements
You must now draft 11 pitchers and 14 pitchers (instead of the usual 10 pitchers and 15 hitters).
You must now also carry at least 4 "pure" relievers (relievers who cannot also start) on your staff at all times.
The "Avoid Using Before 9th" individual player option has been removed due to redundancy.
