BACK TO THE 70s PRE-CARD DRAFT AND CHAT

I took a long hard look at Catfish, but there are a few crappy years which might end up on his card. True for Yaz too, but even his bad years he has high OBP. And he should be a 1(-arm) defensively. :D

Hey, Yaz is a great pick. He was on my short list.
But the stats I see for Catfish show only one season, his last where is WHIP was more than 1.28 and in seven of the 10 years, it was below 1.13.
I believe his WHIP for the decade was 1.07, just a sliver behind Seaver at 1.06.
I'll take my chances.

No doubt Yak. I wasn't suggesting that Hunter wasn't a good pick.

Arggh. There's someone I'm itching to pick but I'm worried Rut will snap him up before me. The anticipation is eating at me.

Guys, can I interrupt with a couple of thoughts:

1) Would any of you be interested in doing this as some sort of keeper league? Not a decade league, but more of a standard keeper. We could discuss the parameters if there is interest, but it might be nice to see how our core does over a few seasons, especially since we have 5 seasons on each card. You also wouldn't be so quick to discard a player based on a bad mystery card if you knew that you would be losing his rights for the next season. Thoughts??

2) Still need to resolve the penalty for non-compliance (i.e. less than 10 of your 12 picks on your roster) issue. I suggest a mandatory .75 player (assuming that .75 is the lowest denomination for 70s) in the starting lineup for every player less than the 10. Please weigh in on this as well.

Cheers

IMO all draft picks should be on your roster at least until the season starts (1st 3 games) then anybody can be released...why should an owner be forced to keep somebody he drafted if it's his worst season card ?That takes half the fun out of the game if you aren't free to make roster moves without penalty.. imo.... :)

The Keeper League issue would resolve some of the above issues... :)

Cubs, agreed. The point is not to make managers endure bad mystery cards, but rather to discourage people from aimlessly drafting players they won't be able to afford. [b:e1efaf889b]Remember folks, this is NOT a $200m league[/b:e1efaf889b].

Keeper League is fine with me. Is there a way to set it up were the player's in the live draft have to be keepers?

I'm going to be gone for a few hours or so. Does anyone, other than sog, want to take a proxy for me. Unfortunately, I can only give one proxy as I don't know who I'll pick with my 3rd pick.

[b:b6f7dfe61b]BC[/b:b6f7dfe61b], I'll be around for another 2 hours if that helps.

[b:b6f7dfe61b]BoDean[/b:b6f7dfe61b], that would be the idea. We would agree upon a certain number of our live drafted players to be keepers, and then at the end of each season we would post who the keepers are. We could even make things interesting by having a "steal round".

[b:b6f7dfe61b]Anyone NOT want to do a keeper league?[/b:b6f7dfe61b]
