Bobs Franchise League 5 - CENTRAL DIV LOADING- CF17 to FIL

Postby errormagnate » Sun Jan 20, 2008 1:29 am

To be clear: I do NOT have a problem with a draft. It just seems a little superflouous since we all play each franchise but I'm cool with it. I realize I brought this up AFTER we started the draft which is obviously NOT the best time to do it but I only thought of it then.
My biggest problem is waiting because I never know when life will whisk me away to some remote corner of the world and I leave people hanging plus I am basically impatient, lol.
So no biggie, it was just an idea, didn't expect people to change this just thought I would bring it up.
Peace,
Steve

No, I think Errormagnate has a great point- I really do.

And although, I have been having a great time checking out all of the franchises, it's probably more reasonable that others might want to research them one a a time.

Where Errormagnate has a great point, is that we might have a rubric's cube problem, if we have a draft evrey time.

I think we're good for this one though

I know that the draft doesn't start until tuesday, but if Krebele is taking the Cubs and Fluffy is taking the Modern Yanks, I'll take the NY/SF Giants.

its all OK with me, also - I can see some problems with the "rotating" of teams or managers - one being we (managers) would have to be rotated in a way that we would NOT be in the same division for up to four seasons, so we would have to somehow JUMP around :). Ditto with "teams".

Anyway - the lottery is fine with me - as is the idea of NOT having the same franchise twice :)

BTW - I finished 80-82 with the Cub team - not real happy with them as I see more than one PROBLEM THE SQUAD has :). - guess I'm NOT one that think they have the BEST team.

Rotation of Teams

Postby centerfielder17 » Sun Jan 20, 2008 12:26 pm

Here's my 2 cents worth.

1. Let the draft continue for season 1, as it is now.
2. For subsequent seasons, rotate the managers through the teams in a pre-determined order. (alphabetically? - that might scatter the managers in the division alignment)
3. Keep the strongest franchises grouped by division.
- in season 1, picks 1-4 are in the east, 5-8 in the central, 9-12 in the west.
- in season's 2 and 3, keep the division alignments the same.
- in season 4, reorder the divisions according to winning percentage in [b:55bdc29336]non-division[/b:55bdc29336] games.
- play with that division alignment for at least 3 seasons.

Thoughts?

Alphabetical order

Postby centerfielder17 » Sun Jan 20, 2008 12:31 pm

Braves
Cards
Cubs
Dodgers
Giants
Indians
Pirates
Red Sox
Tigers
White Sox
Yanks pre-war
Yanks post-war

So, for example, the manager who selected the Cubs in season 1 would get the Dodgers next season, then the Giants and so on. Post war Yanks get the braves in season 2.

I like it (CF's idea).

The only problem is if the franchises picked 1-4 during season1 aren't the strongest- then the team(s) that isn't up for the Pepsi challenge will get pasted for two seasons.

The only alternative I can think of is;
1. Divisions based on season 1 by draft (as per CF's plan)
2. Do the alphabetical rotation (as per CF's plan)
3. Realign the divisions after [b:e3105a235c]each season [/b:e3105a235c]per Franchise, based on interdivsion records.

Divisions

I agree with Todd on point 3, but would add that we use some kind of cumulative record over several seasons (once we can), to smooth out any one season blip and to get several managers results for those teams.
