Well we are past the 102 game mark in the 2001 season and I'm sitting right at .667

Well I finally took the plunge and dumped Pat Burrell. Probably the only part of JKolak's prediction that came true. Hopefully this won't mess with the "cosmic chemistry" my team seems to possess but in the end he was too expensive to be just a DH platoon against LHP's. Replacing him is Jose Conseco whose card has a lot of HR's that are not park assisted. Hopefully this change is not just folly and will serve to "juice" the bottom part of my lineup. :twisted: :P

Has everyone abandoned this chat? I understand nobody but me and Kolak talking about 2001 but there has been no talk since the first week on 2002. Shouldn't we soon be talking about 2003 and where the cut off is? I vote on 81 games with the chatting slow down and the holiday. BTW, I'm not asking here :wink: but there are those that wonder what the 2001 record is for most wins.

Quite a team indeed. 106 wins is the most I've ever had in the regular season in any season. 6 pitchers with over 10 wins and a team ERA of 3.99. A 50 save closer. Abreu had 58 doubles and 48 SB while still posting 37 HR. Team MVP? Not so fast, check Floyd and Edmonds and Jeter. Tino was a best value as always but pound for pound you have to like what Paquette did. Think I'm proud. I'm humbled by the fact that I did this in a league with this much overall managerial talent. Truly amazing.

Still, I have some work to do. I need to take it all to capture my first 2001 title.

Shhh. Don't tell anybody but I'm creeping up the ratings in 2002 as well with an over .500 record. God I love exceeding expectations.

I do hope you realize that I am only 3 wins away from surpassing you in points for the 2001 season Joe? And this is without doubt the weakest season in my portfolio.

As far as the 2002 season... you got off to a "smokin" start, and after a slow start, my boys have been gradually closing the gap so that at the mid-way point we're only 2 points behind. We'll have to wait and see how this pans out in the second half.

And with 2003 starting tonight, welll... let's just say I'm looking forward to "smokin" you in my first opportunity to match up in the same division.

And Alexx... congrats on a great season! 116 points and counting to begin the tourney is terrific. Needless to say, we're all pulling for Kevin to knock you out of the playoffs in the first round so that you can't build up a bigger lead on the rest of us!

One thing though, before registering your team in the patheons of all-time greats, is that a run differential of +185, while outstanding, shouldn't translate into playing 50 games above .500%. Anyone care to do the pythagorean expected won-loss calculation? My belief is that you got a season for the ages from Jeff Fassero... 50 saves and a 1.54 ERA in 70 IP's for $3.71mil has to be one of the best relief performances I've seen in 300+ seasons of SOM on-line Did he blow any saves? I figure that if he just had a "good" season, rather than an "out of this world" one, that your team would've won under 100 games.
