But we have installed a small volcano in CF that kind of rumbles slightly (A smaller version of the one in Las Vegas) whenever Randy Johnson has 2 strikes on a batter or Barry Bonds has 2 strikes with men on base.

If Barry hits a HR or Randy gets the 3rd strike - The Volcano erupts. The low frequency vibration is enuf to disturb people's pacemakers, so we're just trying to work out the knocks so we won't run into any legal complications...Plus, Randy is such a new aquisition, that we had to figure out more reasons to use it.

If you have never been at a ballgame with a volcano or earthquake before - I guess the SanFrancisco/Oakland World Series players and fans could tell you what it's like...But it is quite a trip.

Since it is so warm here in Phoenix, we are definitely going to have it spray a very cool mist on everyone in the Bleachers tho...

Well tonight is the night fellas! Let the opening day festivities commense!

I have to admit that I don't have the vaguest notion how my team is gonna perform?? I've gone back and made adjustments and then made adjustments to my adjustments and then adjusted those adjustments.
My brain is feeling about fried from looking at cards today.

This team may well be the oddest looking team I have put together to date. So who knows what is gonna happen?!

Good luck to all and thanks again to Rob for the invite...Now if I could only get those bad visuals out of my head that I get from reading his posts!  :D

Have to admit I don't know what to make of my team, either. May still monkey with it some more. Too much pitching, I think, but not sure how to turn that into more hitting with you all taking all the good ones!

Looking forward to the season. Maybe my Victoria Secret managed Elvira's LeatherKnockers should follow the Cha Cha's success and clad all my players and stadium staff in lingerie? Robvoz, I think your idea may be catching on!

If my hitters don't knock that leather, at least fans can enjoy the reverse (leather clad knockers, anyone?)

Yipeeee!

:D :D

Leather clad knockers!!!

Thanks Charlie! Thankyou, Thankyou, ThankYOU Charlie!!!

Have a meeting in 45 mins. And no matter what I am sure to enjoy it with some nice visuals floating in my head.

My team dresses quite casually actually, only perk we offer at Hoochie-Coochie land is tha fans get a pair of binoculars to enjoy Jessica Rabbit coming from the dugout to argue calls with the umps...Oh, and BTW Jessica will have to take a piece of clothing for every game in a loosing streak, so after 2 losses in a row we have strip-baseball.

I don't think my team will win that many games, so we're looking at nakid toon babes for the larger chunk of the season...really looking forward to my games with Elvira's

If you need some wool outfits to keep Jessica warm during the first month of the season, I can't help ya. My boys may be sheepish, but they ain't sheep.

I'll be sure to leave the wife and kids at home when traveling to
Phoenix for those CHA CHA games !

Opening night...my favorite time of the season, mainly because it
seems like that's the only time in this 2005 game that I am at .500 !!

This will be team #6 for the 2005 set. And this looks like it will be
the most "veteran" populated league I've ever been in. It also will most
definitely be another learning experience. I've come to the conclusion
that I cannot compete in a "pitchers'" park. It seems too dificult for my
simple mind to figure out !! I figure if I play in a Park like Ameriquest
a good hitter will be a "good" hitter no matter what, no worries about
ballpark effects, and left/right stuff. My pitchers will most likely get
shelled, but I'm hoping a strong pen, and a potent offense will at least let
me shoot for a .500 team, which I have yet to do in 2005.

It's an honor to be able to play among all these who's who's of Strat.
Robert thanks for including me, and thanks again for the tips you offered
me (most of which I acted on) in the rookie/vet league. It was very good
of you to take the time to let me in on some of the finer points of the
game.

Tyber90... I look forward to competing in the same division as you once again. (I think the last time was about 4 years ago, maybe 5 !)

penngray... Champion of the Vet/Rookie league, finishing 8 games behind you in that league was considered a success by my standards.

charliewb...Another WEST foe from the Vet/Rookie league. Finished 6 games ahead of my Ashby team.

If you want to make a killing in Vegas choose my Ashby Puddle Jumpers to win the Central Division. If I could pull this off it would be considered a bigger upset than the Steelers beating the Colts !!! Look what I'm up against... The Two finalists from the Rookie/Vet League, and
the team that finished just two games behind penngray. That is some
serious competition.

Let's get started, bring on those Leather-clad Knockers please !!!

Good Luck Everyone, I'm looking forward to a great time with all you
folks !!!

Know what?

Postby ROBERTVOZZA » Mon Jan 23, 2006 11:55 pm

I have always been under the impression that the players who win divisions, make the post and get into the finals are the ones who get the players they draft or get through waivers, have fast computers and service and get good dice rolls.

The ones who do it the most consistently tend to have the best command of the cards and are able to overcome not getting players they draft and adjust best. But it is still a virtual dice game based upon probability and statistics - and luck.

Everyone has a chance to make the post on opening day. I tend to have 2 factors against me...1. If I don't monitor my teams every single day(Micromanaging), I tend to go on terrible losing streaks...and 2. I haven't got a lucky bone in my body.

If I pay attention this season(I am actually only playing with this one team) - and have actually gotten more than I bargained for, and do ot make the post - I'd consider it a huge failure.

But I have gotten the players I wanted and not made the post and i have played with unusual choices for me and won the whole thing.

There are so many possibilities - Division mates, Ballparks, etc. and once again - LUCK.

My selfish reason for creating the 1st LOTO's was to be able to gauge just exactly how good a player i was by playing a good portion of the highest rated players there were. Otherwise I would never know. But many of the players who are rated so high are also tremendous human beings as well. So it has been quite a satisfying experience for me across the board.

So now when I play in new leagues and meet players who have that same competitive spirit, I enjoy offerring that same experience to them.

So your're most welcome and i am equally grateful for the opportunity to have you play as well.

Hopefully when I go to our league our 1st scores will be in...

GL, Robert

Well the team got off an early season series win but it was a costly one losing both Chavez and Rowand to minor injuries. That is one weakness in my club that I gambled on, the injury bug, if it bites me too hard this could be a very long season.
