Bud Selig Keeper League - Chat Thread

Postby ShakeyBoomer » Mon May 30, 2011 8:11 pm

If you cant use the unleashed player than I am dropping Casper Wells.

Blackjack - as I stated yesterday, some of us have families that we need/want to pay attention to while its holiday. Some of us have wives that get extremely frustrated when their husbands spend vacation time on the phone instead of paying attention to their 2 year old daughter who desperately wants daddy's attention. Some of us dont have the time to craft nice and neat speradsheets that list all the players taken/available - and after 25+ rounds its a ***** keeping track of anything. So once again, please relax - this draft means squat in the scheme of things...

Let's Calm Down

Postby kramers » Mon May 30, 2011 9:03 pm

:? Everybody should be in this kind of league because they want to step above and beyond the average league experience. It requires extra time to set up, and because it is a keeper league and you have to keep track of the future as well as past and present it will always take more then average time to participate.
Everyone is also aware this is a hobby, and although not free, it is not a life altering expense. And yes everyone at different times will have personal issues that will conflict. But we each have to realize "there are always 11 others whose time is as important as my time." We need to be considerate as much as possible. (If this is your first time in a keeper league you probably weren't aware of how time intensive it can be.) Maybe a word to the wise is to emphasize that in the future.
Having said all this, anytime there is an organization of more than 1 there will always be conflicts at various times, but let's not turn any of those conflicts into personal attacks.
 Just my 2 cents worth.

Paul's Proxy

Postby kramers » Mon May 30, 2011 9:40 pm

Any body have Paul's Proxies?

Also I have no problem in picking Stadiums early. In fact I am in favor of getting the private league set up, managers name their teams, set up their initial 25-man roster etc. so that we can start play next Monday. I don't think anyone is picking for their current roster at this point.

Shakey; this is my last post about this because it is starting to get personal but I don't think you are getting my point.

Did you even read my post? The whole point was all 12 of us have lives and way more important stuff going on then SOM. However, we all committed to this, and when you or anybody else constantly wastes our time it is irritating. Maybe if you actually read my post you would have noticed that I also have a wife and young daughter, when I have to sit around waitng for you or others to pick I have less time to spend with them. Its selfish to take three hours to take your pick when you can use your phone and/or send proxys to Paul, me or several others who will do it. We should have finished this several days ago.

As for keeping track of picks, I printed out Dan's google doc once and just write in names, updating it two or three times a day. Takes maybe 10 minutes a day.

Yes, I have made several comments about people taking a long time to pick but I was only mildly irritated about it. However, when you started making snide comments to me I got really annoyed. As I said, I waited a while last night when by rights I could have gone ahead and picked in front of you. You took over three hours today, I checked in and I see a question from you, I answered it and then told you I was picking because I wanted to immediately get back to other stuff. I figured you were not planning on taking my pick anyway (Pennington) since you were asking about unleashed cards so my picking in front of you would not be a big deal. You repay me with snide comments about not taking it so seriously, so, yeah, now I'm taking it too seriously.

I apologize to other league members for getting caught up in this, this will be it from me on this subject regardless of what Shakey writes.

I made my pick, though Paul has my proxies which he may continue to use until exhausted, but unfortunately I did not do him the courtesy of asking if I might take his. Sorry Paul.

I will be flying to Japan late tomorrow morning, so that seems to be the only way to handle the remainder of the draft for me-- One LONG proxy list that, strangely nobody except that Pennington pick even touched.... This is quite disconcerting. Could I be THAT far out in my assessment of talent? Probably...

I can put together a "proxy list" for Stadia, but that might really not work out too well. That's why I suggested the early Stadium Draft. That won't work now, so I'll signt off and wish you all a fond good night. Which is what [i:2547c4b15c]"Oyasumi nasai"[/i:2547c4b15c] means, or more like "Sleep well".
