Bud Selig Keeper League - Chat Thread

just was looking at my division for season 1 (the WEST) and we've got an interesting variety of parks: one pitchers, one hitters, one lefty-slanted, and one righty-slanted. Should make for some good home records and winning on the road could be at a premium.

[quote:262cb786b1="Paul_Long71"]Rosco,

I had Harper, Trout, Hosmer, and I figured I'd take Pineda 4th(great for next year already) then Kramer's threw a curve in there with Britton (thought he'd be 5,6,or 7 but another guy that can be used next year in a rotation). So...I took Trout and now I'll wait til who knows how long before I ever use him in this league....lots of quality guys for the first 3 rounds at least.

I had Harper #1 obviously and then really wasn't sure about the order of Trout, Pineda, Britton, and Hosmer I knew the only way one of them was making it past me, was if there was 2 of them available somehow. I would have been happy with any of them at #5 really, hard to go wrong with any of them. In a way I was happy I had the 5th pick so I didn't have to make the decision (unless I could have had the 1st)

I had a feeling your trade offer was for Pineda.

There is still a ton of top prospects left in the first round. I think there is a chance the other guy I want could fall to me in the 2nd round, but I'd rather not take the chance if someone wants to trade down.

As far as Trout goes, I have a feeling that he will be up sooner rather than later. The Angel made a bad trade acquiring Wells (which makes me happy because I'm a Blue Jays fan). They are stuck with him and I'm sure they want to see how Bourjos pans out, but Abreu and Hunter I think have some trade value to a contender. Assuming of course that the Angels aren't come July 31st.

I was thinking exactly the same thing...obviously Harper #1...but after him it was those same guys that I was between. I had it narrowed down to Pineda, Hosmer, and Trout. I figured, since I drafted pretty heavily towards pitching for now and the future in the initial draft, Pineda wasn't exactly a necessity. So down to Hosmer and Trout...other than the fact that Im pretty slim @ 1B and my plan all along was to take Hosmer #2... I still liked Trout ALOT. But, I grow sort of wary of those prospects with 2+years ETA. A lot seems to happen for the guys that "still need to develop" in the minors, and I have to say, I've had a lot of high profile, young guys, turn into complete busts.

Not saying that Trout will be a bust, because I definitely would have taken him if I was slotted 3-6ish, but I just like the "mlb ready" prospects.

Hopefully we are able to finish the prospect draft this weekend, I see no reason why we shouldn't.

As soon as Shakey, Kramers and Sknsfan enter the East, I'm ready to go in the Central.

I got a quick but important question: Do we have up until the games start to finalize our 25-man playing roster? Or do we have to set that as we sign up initially?

I am looking for a good defensive backup shortstop, but bats higher then .175 (he will start a few games).

You have until the first game to have your 25 man roster set. After that you can mix and match however you want provided you only have 25 men on your roster. Unless ofcourse you have an injured player or after game 132 when rosters expand to 28

wondered who would go #6. I'd have taken Brett Lawrie and that's who Shakey took so I feel good that at least I'm looking at it right. I've never done a prospect draft before, so questioning if I have these guys ranked right. Thus the Lawrie pick makes me feel better. Now let's see if I'm right on 7,8,9.
