Cubit - interesting pick in that he wasn't on anyone's top prospect list before or during the season. Just curious where you got him from?

He's rated #90 on Baseball America's top 100 list.

His K/IP ratio is awesome

and he's already been called up to the bigs and is doing well, so not too big a stretch.

and shakey, we've got all week to load so don't worry about it.

I hear you about De La Rossa Paul. I just think there are much better selections to be had in the first round. That's what scouting is all about - differences of opinion.

[quote:b041b8834d]On the Irabu comment: After the Yanks dumped him-- for really poor reasons I believe-- Hideki Irabu went back to Japan and carried the Hanshin Tigers to a pennant. He had the skill and a tremendous desire to succeed in America, but just did not "vibrate" the way Steinbrenner demanded. [/quote:b041b8834d]

I remember reading about Irabu having sucess after going back to Japan. You're right about Yankees and George S. being a poor fit, had he gone to someplace like Seattle with more patient owners/fans he might have been a consistent winner. But, other than Nomo no Japanese P's have had much sustained sucess (a few current ones are off to decent starts) and Irabu sort of remains the poster child for Japanese pitching failures.

Anyway, how is Japan? How are they adjusting to the quake/ nuclear tragedy and has their been much cultural change?

p.s. I was going to draft DeLarosa just so I could have someone named Rubby on my team

just a heads-up, but I have 2 proxy choices for Terry and 1 for Cubit so after AZPanthers makes his picks I may be able to turn this quickly.

AZPanther - I hate you. Truly I do. Those were the next top two on my list.
