Die Hard League - N.L.-Only Successor to 007 League

Postby Al Hogg » Tue Jun 12, 2007 12:05 am

Looks like I've taken over the expenditure lead, but I still have $930,000 left to spend per pick - enough to do some damage, I hope!

Owner Spent Players Per Player Left
ElkoSkipper 65.89 13 0.93
BalmerBaseball 62.06 13 1.25
Turtle 58.93 12 1.39
He's Meat 60.00 13 1.42
IrishJoe 57.54 13 1.62
RickCom 56.13 13 1.74
Terry101 55.87 13 1.76
Kramed 52.89 12 1.85
Calbatross 54.16 13 1.90
Tater 53.28 13 1.98
SGTD 49.06 12 2.15
Sykes 45.92 12 2.39

How did Meat hit $60 million on the nose at this point? He couldn't have done that if he had tried.

I might as well get my two cents in...

Y'all are killing my proxies too...among my favorites:

SGT D taking Utley just before my pick...
Sykes nabbing Fuentes in the 6th just a few before I would have...
Theriot, Howry and Peavy in the 7th wiped out 3 proxies in a row...
Chad Cordero in the 8th, meaning my bullpen will end up being a committee affair, most likely...
A Escobar in the 9th, removing a favorite of mine from our MLB league...
and finally Rick.com grabbing Lofton in the 13th, another favorite from my team in the MLB league, although I had my chance when I decided on Victorino earlier...

I didn't study enough to see the dearth of talent at a few key positions...I (wasted) early picks on relatively strong overall positions...now my defense will be sieve-like, but I hope to be able to make up for it with some muscle. Lotsa rounds to go................lets see how many more proxies get nabbed.

I liked how my team in the MLB league shaped up around the power and speed of Soriano and the power of D Ross, so I am mighty happy to have them back and be able to builad around them. Just hoping to avoid the late season swoon in this league...

Ha, don't worry about it Sykes, I'm sure I've taken some of everyone elses proxies (at least I hope so or else I can't have that great of a team). There really is no talent in this league. I remember my teams last year and felt that they were fine and that people were just complaining, but this draft really has been a tough one. I'm trying to platoon, but there is no one left that is even good enough to do that. At this rate, I have Dave Weathers as my closer and Darren Oliver as one of my top 2 relievers. All the while, I don't have a full offense and my 5th starter will cost around 1 million, this could be a tough season. It might be time for me to step down and pass the championship off to someone else.

Snagging BOTH my IF choices -- Uggla & Greene-- right before me.

Leaves me with that pesky perennial hanger-on Eckstein as SS, with his low e8 rating but 3 range. I like him as leadoff (by default; I've got nobody else who can run AT ALL, his OBA is a respectable .350 & his clutch is awful). For a starter, he's actually reasonably priced at just over a buck, but, I guess that means he kinda really sucks.

Very happy to end up with Rowand in CF, to offset the mediocre to bad corner guys, despite his injury rating. Unless I have to finally descend to taking Jeff Kent @2b, Defense around the field is going to be almost exactly Average: 5 guys who are 3's, a 1 in CF, a 4 in RF, and a 2 behind the plate.

Home from work today for a variety of reasons. I'll check back later.

Hopefully my choice of righty-specialist cheapie Geoff Geary caused someone(s) great pain, to balance the agony I feel that there are now no realistic choices for 2B remaining. I hadn't noticed that in addiiton to Jeff Kent having a 4-rating in the field, he's got a 4-injury rating, too. Lovely.

Amen. We are filling holes and bullpens at this point. Proxies should be loaded to our eyeballs if we are not around to make picks.

Meat, the site is working for me as of 3:27PM EST. I have a feeling our other League is not going to go anywhere, what are your thoughts on that, SIKL2? SGT D
