Coming off from getting swept by the Jags made me think about my first team...It stank so horribly I think I swept my first series around game 140...it was a wrecking machine that ended 55-107...how 'bout you guys? How did your first team ever did in SOM?

Hey jeff-o I agree with Robo...give them a bit of a break, they'll snap out.

My first team this season was a Shea team (who'da thunk it?) built around Albert Pujols. Lost in the semi-finals, but the regular season record was a mediocre 84-78. Not even sure how I made the playoffs... a lot of the other guys in the league were razzing us about being the new NL West.

First team ever? 2003 set, Pac Bell team, 88-74. Tied for second in the division, and they were led by Jason Schmidt, A-Rod, Andruw Jones, and Magglio Ordonez. I remember it being a lot of fun because I hadn't seen the game in years. Now it's fun because I'm better than all of you. ALL YOU'S GUYS![/i]

JD, your modesty and humility just bring tears to my eyes.

It's about time your butt got swept Cummings! We can't have you just walking away and leaving the rest of our division in the dust. We'd miss ya man! :(

On the subject of my first team...Man that was a long time ago now! I started out with strat online as soon as they opened up shop.

Okay I tracked down the first crack pipe of a team that started my addiction.

Wow, you guys are natural born players... after my 50 games under .500 first team your teams huble me to doo-doo.

Can't wait until I go to Robo's Cha-Cha Municipal Stadium tonight...If he sweeps he'll do it with the drunken bodies of all hoodies, I've given the series off to all my players, the all [u:0555f697ed]have[/u:0555f697ed] to play under the infulence of his famous Santana Bananas and the uberpopular Zito Fritos. :D

Here's the link to my first disaster...things got so bad with this team that by game 140 I offered all my players on a "firesale". I was so fed up with them that they were traded away for anybody on a first come first served basis...I just didn't know what on earth was going on as my record clearly indicates.

Consistency

Postby ROBERTVOZZA » Sun Nov 27, 2005 5:10 pm

My 1st teams with the 01' 02', 03', ATGI and 05' all tended to go 80-82. 05' was the exception - where I went 78-84. It seems to take me 2 leagues to figure the players out and then I tend to beging making the playoffs - usually losing in the 1st round or Finals. I have not had great luck in the post - especially Finals game 7's.

I have generally done better with wildcards than division winners as all of my championship teams have been Wildcards.

My most consistent tendency in STRAT is to find myself in the same Division with the team with best record in the league (It has to be at least 80 pct. of the time.) So i have accepted my LOTO station as King of the Wildcards.

My sub .300 OBP has carried me this far...hope the charm lasts for two more series

Check out Bobby Kielty's #s...not bad for a .89 investment eh?

Well my team has gone from "rolling right along" to a flat tire.
Hopefully we can get this team bus rolling again before Cummings runs away with the division or I get rolled over by ET.

It is interesting though watching how this season is playing itself out.

My first 05 team is well...how should I put it? Stick a fork in em' cause they are way done! I may go and play around with them now or I might not based on the fact that I don't wanna skew the season results too much and having the guys think I tanked on purpose to help my division.

Cummings, congrats on your success! You're well on your way to becoming one of the heavyweights of Strat.

My 80s team on the other hand is rolling right along kicking a$$ and taking names. For some reason I just seem to have a better grasp for that game?

Hey! Sombrero! Won game 7 last night in a hard fought 1-0 battle for my fourth championship. Good times.

Tyber, one thing I generally try to do when I fall out of the thick of things is find another team that is floundering and just swap some players with them. It might help to keep you and the other "far behind" manager interested in that particular league, and you'll get some experience using players that you might not have used otherwise. Just a thought.
