NEW SUMMER LEAGUE - AUCTION - CHAT ONLY

It does make sense Palanion - and I think it will work.

Mr. BB World makes a great point - we will obviously need and want to alter bids based on who else is currently on the block - and that could get tricky.

We either say "Damn the torpedoes" - lets' live with that issue

OR

Another solution would be to only run 2 snakes at once - one P and one Hitter, which obviously slows down the process.

Best solution may be to say if you lose out on Dimaggio and Mays in that scenario, there are lots of other CF's in the sea...

Or 11 guys see the one other with the high bid on both JoeD and Mays, and all stop bidding :P

[quote:7e7706f2d0="Palanion"]What if a SKIP was voluntary as well, but only allowed to SKIP once, because if you SKIP twice, you PASS?

Does that make sense?[/quote:7e7706f2d0]

We're only a hop, skip, and a pass away from it now. No, I really think Palanion hit it right on here. So for example, if a player goes up for bids at 10 PM tonight, I can go in right away and say I'm not going to be online until tomorrow afternoon, so "skip" me when it's my turn.

The only thing that I ask is that you can't be "passed" for a time period of 24 hours. So if I made no bids on this player by 10 PM the next night then I officially pass.

So then vote for the 8 hour "non-voluntary" skip period - which grants a minimum of 16 hours (for 2 skips to qualify as a "non-voluntary" PASS), if needed, and in practicality, more time. If we also have a 24 hour provision it could theoretically take 11 days for the manadatory skip waiting period to expire (an exaggeration, I know) per player.

I'm gonna have my attorney start to look at these terms soon.

snaking, skipping, passing etc. = overly complicated

set time period = none of those problems

Whatever time period you put into a snake, there will be multiple times someone goes over it. Look at the stadium pick as an example of how long people are away.

I can't say I disagree, Don (thus my suggestions earlier), but we are outnumbered and I am going along with the majority now as part of a not so silent minority......

Don - we also need your team name (i think?)

I am open to all possibilities yet. I am trying to bring up the potential issues so we resolve them sooner rather than later.

Could we say everyone is on the clock until they go 6 hours without a bid which eliminates them? Once they made their first bid they would have 3 hours thereafter? Just thinking off the top of my head(and think someone suggested the basic idea earlier). Certainly have not thought through the logistics of how it would work or not work.

There's no way this would work. What if the bidding starts at 10:00 PM? So if no one makes a bid by 4 AM then they're all out? And then if you make a bid at 10 PM and don't make another by 1 AM then you're out??

Like I said before, I go to bed by 10 PM, go to work at 5 AM (with no internet access) and get home usually around 3 PM. That's 17 hours at a time away from the computer. If we go with anything with less of a time period then I'll have to bow out.
