just saw that im up...will pick shortly. man, A LOT of weaseling here...josh, banks, honus. leaning towards yount, but need a closer too. got to see what fits with fat ruth, joe d. gehrig salaries...
Glad to see that owning the pre-war Yankees isn't all peaches and cream.
This has been a really interesting topic. Had to look at a lot of things before making a pick. As I told Andy in a PM a while back, I think it would have been more interesting if the LAST guy to pick a team with a multi-carded player got him. (Look for a variant of this when it's my turn to pick the theme.)
if this is posted somewhere i apologize, but I couldn't find it. is there a way of knowing which stadiums are eligtible from my four teams. im thinking nyy db pre is yankee stadium '05,'41...how bout '48? cin db and pre would be only crosley '41. correct? the answer, and especially if yankee 48 is eligible effects this final pick...
okay, actually looked it up on the internet, and there are two yankees, one crosley, and hilltop,. yankee '48 obviously belongs to post wwII yanks. they actually played in polo, but conveniently, or in my case, inconviently enough, the years they were there JUST misses the strat staadium represented.
I think the cutoff between pre-war and post-war is 1946. Talk about revisionist history! I suppose the rationale is that the ballplayers didn't get back from the service, for the most part, until late 1946.
dacelo, if youre around feel free to pick, I dont want to make you wait, plus your decision could help eliminate one of the options im ruminating over...
