[b:5bd875a132]Concept:[/b:5bd875a132]
We will divide the player pool into the 4 sub sets of
AL Only
NL Only
1903-1959
1961-1990
We will draft 3 complete teams each* and build our team from the teams that we draft. Restricted Trading will be allowed. By the time the four seasons are done, you will be familiar with 11-12 different teams, four different sub sets and 4 different salary/position formats.
[b:5bd875a132]Rules:[/b:5bd875a132]
1 - Each Season will be preceded by a 3 Round draft
2 - Season II will start 1 month after Season I, Season III will start after Season I concludes and Season IV will start after Season II concludes.
3 - The draft order for each season will be:
Round I: 1-12
Round II: 12-1
Round III: 12-1
3a - The Draft order for Season II will be the reverse of Season I (so if you picked 1st in Season I, you will pick 12th in Season II).
3b - The Draft order for Season III will either be determined by the End of Season Results of Season I or will be a new lottery determined order.
3c - The Draft order for Season IV will either be determined by the End of Season Results of Season II, or will be the reverse of Season III
4 - The order of the subsets will be
NL Only
AL Only
1961-1990
1903-1959
NL Only will be 100m No DH because there is non in the NL
AL Only will be 100m DH - The AL uses a DH so shall we.
1961-1990 will be 120m DH - This will represent the introduction of the modern facets such as the DH, salary arbitration & Steinbrennerization (buying a championship).
1903-1959 will be 80m no DH - This will represent the fact that were was no DH during this era, and most ballplayers did not get much salary.
5 - All leagues will use 5/10/20 & frenzy
6 - Every subset will have 35 teams used (including 1903-1959 - see below). The last owner to pick in Round III (referred to as Owner X) will have the right to use whatever is leftover from the rest of the league (ie free rein in the FA Pool while everyone else will only use the FAs from their 3 treams).
7 - Trading is permitted, but with the following restrictions:
(a) during Pre-Season: [b:5bd875a132]Must[/b:5bd875a132] be on active roster. You can add a player you own from FA to your roster to trade to another owner, but you [b:5bd875a132]must[/b:5bd875a132] release a player of similar salary value, and cannot re-add that player until 24 hours after the trade (to give Owner X a chance to pick him up if he wants to)
(b) During Season: Only from active roster
(c) If you release the player you acquired, Owner X has the right to add him to his roster.
8 - Special Rule concerning 1903-1959 & 1961-1990 subsets.
To ensure that all subsets have the same # of teams (35), the 36th team from the 1961-1990 subset will be removed and added to the 1903-1959 subset (hence why 1903-59 is played after 1961-90).
9 - Increase the Challenge Rule
(a) You [b:5bd875a132]cannot[/b:5bd875a132] pick the same team twice. So if you pick '61 Yankees in the AL Only season, you cannot pick them again in the 1961-90 season
(b) You must use a ballpark from one of your 3 teams
(c) Owner X can pick any ballpark that is unused from the subset.
10 - Divisions will be
Season I: 1/4/7/10, 2/5/8/11, 3/6/9/12
Season II-IV: We can do one of the following
(a) keep same divisions
(b) determine by W/L record of preceding season
* - Except for the last owner in Round III who will have 2 teams + free rein in the FA Pool post-autodraft.
