3-Plus-3 Combo draft and chat

Six-round draft, three rounds of teams first followed by three rounds of individual players from the remaining teams

Rules
1, $100 mil, DH, advanced
2, Trades OK (teams, individuals, stadium, draft picks, cars, whatever), announce them on the draft thread
3, No free-agent players can be picked up outside an owner's draft (or trade) group until after the season starts, then they all are fair game -- 20 percent hit on releases
4, Pick 3 lottery numbers determine draft order (high to low) and division alignment (1,4,7,10, etc.)
5, 12-hour clock on draft (that's pretty close to the honor system), clock runs throughout weekends and nights, proxies encouraged
6, Stadium comes from one of your team picks, or you can use an individual pick to select an available park instead of a player

Dang. I didn't want to play a '39 Yank team for this theme. Very tempted to offer JCHansen a swap of all our picks (wonder if he would do it). Hhhmm, 1 super team and 2 stars and 2/3 eh players OR 2 good teams and 2 stars and 2 eh players. I like the upside for picking two teams 12/13, and then having the first two picks in the draft (what your last team essentially is), but the wrong mix of teams can be left depending on who was taken 8/9/10/11. You can kinda figure out which 8 or 9 or 10 teams are taken for sure in the first round. But with this weasely group..., I better not take any unnecessaru risks. The '39 Yanks are a pretty good bird in the hand and I can't guarantee the two teams I get will add up to more then the 39 yanks.

It is too bad that serpentine doesn't just solve every problem. A two round draft and a 20 round (or 15 round or 12 round) all work well. A six round draft of this type (3 teams and 3 players) favors the GMs at the edges, imo.

You've nicely put the dilemma. Truthfully, I think I lean toward the 12 and 13 picks (staying put), but I keep going back and forth. So to answer your hypothetical -- no idea whether I'd actually do it :D
