ATG3 Draft By Position - Chat Thread

Postby modmark46 » Sun Jun 03, 2007 1:37 am

Let's use this thread for discussions, trash talk, trade banter, questions, etc., and reserve the other thread for strictly drafting. BTW, the person who has the first pick in the round [i:34fb9f50ad]following[/i:34fb9f50ad] our current one can also start that round (but our two SP rounds can not go back to back, of course). However, be SURE that a player drafted can NOT play the position of the round ahead of him. For example, if drafting 3b, you could not draft Frisch if an earlier round drafting 2bmen is still ongoing and Frisch is still available.

so we are drafting using the other page?

Marge, we're together again- peas and carrots

Why hasn't Coffee had the decency to live up to his Handle , wake up at 2AM and make his pick. This draft is a failure.

PS. Even though I'll get the first pick for 2nd SP or 3rd Base coach, this draft sounds like a blast. Thanks for having me.

PSS. Is it ok to pick a .50 player? Or is that not in keeping with the spirit of the theme?

Good Morning, Fluffyman. What a wonderfu surprise to wake up this monring and see that we share a division. Peas and carrots...mashed potatoes and gravy.....hopefully we won't end up being labeled dum and dumber at the end of the league.

Also surprised to see that WA came through with a decent draft pick for me. Maybe I'll pick WA next live draft. Hey Fluffy, third base coach is a critical position on a winning team.

I believe you can draft a .50 player. As a matter of fact, fluffyman, I think it's a good strategy to pick all .50 players. It will put the rest of us off-guard and will give you lots of money for the auto-draft. Here's a tip: Bud Weiser s a good acquisition. All around outfielder, a little slow, strikes out a little too much, no power...but decent clutch and a great name!

Thanks Modmark for starting this league and how did I get in the same diision as the commish and Fluffy? What's a nice girl like me doing in a division like this?

Let's draft!

Fluffy, yes, you can draft whomever you wish, as long as it's the required position for that round. And, like Marge, I think drafting all .50 guys would be a very bold, unique strategy. I say, go for it! :) And, as far as having the 11th pick in RD 1, looks like I will be perusing some cheap CF (my guess) options, myself. :P

Right on!

Brett Butler it is; the most shocking #2 pick of the draft.

Marge, will my team in our theme league win ANY games against yours?

I think every single weakness of my Cardinal's team is a strength of your Phillies team and every single strength of my team is neutralized by your team as well. It's just darn scary. I've never been more psyched out by an opposing team prior to the season as I am by yours. And since I'm bored; let's name them.

1. my team is fast; your team has good outfield arms(Flick/Waner/Heathcote)
2. my team has stealing speed; you have Baboon (that's what I grew up calling Mr. Bob Boone at Angel stadium- when your 13- it's really funny)
3. my team has good power v. Righties; Connie Mack= no power for Lefty hitters.
4. my team has good singles v. Lefty's; Connie Mack= no singles for righties
5. I have(or had) lots plattons/switch hitters; you got pitchers made for switch hitters/platoon. My strength will be you strength. Isn't that just GREAT

6. Oh, but that's OK. I'm in Busch '87, surely my singles hitters will carry the day. Nope- you've got Lajoie/Rose/Flick etc, etc

My theory is you know the cards so well you were able to make the perfect Anti-Cards team.

And you know what? I sooo have it comeing. I was laughing when I picked Pete and Kaat. I was thinking, "Oh poor Marge's Phillies don't have chance now". EEEENKH. Wrong. Oh, how I wrong I was.

So, my only solution to the , "How the heck do I get the Cards to win in a theme league"........ Moxy.

I've called upon the ghost of the gas house gang.
Every position except CF/RF has a player from the 1934 Cards.
Collins Frisch, Durocher, Martin, Medwick, Delancey with Agee and Slaughter thrown in.

A little speed/ a little glove/ a little power... alot of prayer.

Coffee will probably cross our thinking up, and go for DH or RP with his first pick. :P

I'll cry... hard.

I'm going to go throw the ball around. SO I should be gone for an hour or so.

I've joined a co-ed slow pitch softball team and I haven't played in 20 years- literally- 25 years. This should be interesting. Anyhow, I gotta get the arm in shape; batting comes next. I may pay a kid to run for me during games. since I am sloooooooo.

Fluffy, you know you're getting old when you hit the ball over the leftfielder's head and you're glad you made it to second base. That's when I quit....

I'm gone for a few hours...off to the golf course...I'll be ready to declare my draft position when I get back, if Coffee has picked by then. See you guys later.

BTW, the person who has the first pick in the round following our current one can also start that round (but our two SP rounds can not go back to back, of course).....

If this scenario happens, is there a three hour window on both rounds, or just the first round (lets get technical)..... :P

Wouldn't they need to wait for the 1st round to declare it's position before they start?

Has anyone PM'd Coffee?

Also, once the person in the previous round has declared a position (assuming it's not SP) couldn't we just keep it going to the next round and the next etc?

I don't know, I'm asking.
