Two things. First, I gave everyone Admin rights. Just speeds things along should someone need to have a DROP approved. Secondly, you will notice that there is 26 rounds listed for everyone. The site did that on it's own, probably it's the default for these type of drafts. However, we are NOT using unique stadiums. So, after your 25th player selection, just hit SKIP PICK, and it should advance to the first draft slot for the next owner. :)

There is NO CLOCK in this type of draft (well, 999 hours). But, when you know your turn is coming up in one or two picks, try to monitor the Live Draft site, and maybe have your team roughly outlined, in preparation. That way, once you DO start your picks, in shouldn't take THAT long to select your team. From past experiences with this theme, it usually takes 30-60 minutes to make your 25 picks, if not sooner. If it's going to be awhile before you CAN make your picks, post a note here on this thread, as a courtesy to everyone else, so we aren't all checking in on the Draft Site needlessly.

1st pick 23 Sep 2008 01:56
Yes! No, wait.........

How big of a hurry are you guys in? Just signed up Sunday and have no clue what I'm doing. May take a day or two to figure out, OK?

AND MY REPLY -
Whatever you need. It would be [i:d0be975f1d]nice[/i:d0be975f1d] to be able to fill the league by Fri, just before midnight. But not vital if we don't. You may find it doesn't take as long as you think. With first pick, you can build EXACTLY the type of team you have always wanted. Power team? Pitching team? Speed team? Great D & clutch? All switch hitters? All reverse pitchers? Whatever excites you. Once you know what TYPE of team you want, decide up front what park you will play in. Then, you have the pick of the litter at every position. Keep in mind, that although it's a $100m cap league, [b:d0be975f1d]in actuality you only have $90m to build your team.[/b:d0be975f1d] And also remember this is a NO DH league. :)

Nice things about picking 1st or 2nd in this theme-
1. Pick of the litter. You can put the top player in all of the key positions.
2. No sweating the auto-draft, or being screwed in Waivers, and having most of the players stolen from you by your evil competition.
3. You've always wondered how this particular group of players would perform for you in a certain park. Now, you can make that dream a reality.

Not so nice things about picking 1st or 2nd-
1. Yeah, you got the pick of the litter. How embarrassing for you, then, if you fail to make the playoffs!
2. You can feel the hot breath on the back of your neck from the rest of the league while they impatiently wait for you to DRAFT ALREADY!
3. Lots of time to wait for the rest of the league to draft their teams. Lots of time to second guess yourself. Man, should I have taken Mays instead of Mantle? Musial instead of Ruth? Sisler instead of Gehrig? Oh, the agony!

Nice things about picking 11th or 12th in this theme-
1. No pressure on you at all. Yeah, there's mostly 2nd tier players left. Still, no one expects you to win with that crap roster. If you should luck out and make the playoffs, you look like a managerial genius!
2. You get to watch how all those managers ahead of you in the draft put their teams together. You can analyze, critique, and learn from their mistakes that YOU won't make.
3. Yeah, you're last now. But, you will pick 1st next league, and you will learn from the mistakes of earlier leagues. Everybody better watch out!

Not so nice things about picking 11th or 12th in this theme-
1. You have to wait a seeming eternity for the draft to get to you.
2. You have crap to choose from. Your team is full of platoons, and big players like Sandberg, Rizzuto, Winfield, Brouthers, Hodges and Minoso. You learn to look at going 1-2 in a series a moral victory.
3. You are left out of all the League chat; the ribbing, teasing and excited discussion in the last week, like "Wow, 9 teams are still in the WC race"! NO ONE talks to you because, well, it's just not nice to pick on the poor, skinny weakling. And of course, for you, it's a LONG season when you are 25 games back at the season mid-point.

Sorry to poke my nose into this thread, just very curious. I would love for someone in the league to post the first team drafted if convenient. Thanks and sorry again for bothering you all.

apparantly the other benefit to having the first pick is you can take 24+ hours to make the pick

boyz, I was in the atg3 version, and finally made the playoffs and actually won the thing as the wildcard in the 12th and final season. didn't expect this to fill as fast as it did, so if down the line you need a replacement, lmk. good luck, we're all counting on you.

This issue came up in another league. I assume that to adhere to the 90m cap, each manager must have at least 10m in Cash Remaining throughout the season.
