MLB 2009 Opening Day Strat-O-Matic League - Chat Thread

The Yearly Tradition continues!! For the [b:97848dfe72]SEVENTH[/b:97848dfe72] (and probably last) consecutive season I will be running a SOM 200x league (the first being 2003, then 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008) that will start its season as close as possible with the MLB Season. This is usually my [b:97848dfe72]FIRST[/b:97848dfe72] league of the new card season, and I almost always have a losing record in it.

[b:97848dfe72][u:97848dfe72]IMPORTANT:[/u:97848dfe72][/b:97848dfe72] The season for this league will start on [b:97848dfe72]Monday April 6th[/b:97848dfe72], to coincide as close as possible to the beginning of the MLB Season.

Do [b:97848dfe72][u:97848dfe72]NOT[/u:97848dfe72][/b:97848dfe72] expect this league to start before then. It will [b:97848dfe72][u:97848dfe72]NOT[/u:97848dfe72][/b:97848dfe72] start on March 16th, 23th or March 30th.

This [b:97848dfe72]WILL[/b:97848dfe72] mean the league will [b:97848dfe72][u:97848dfe72]NOT[/u:97848dfe72][/b:97848dfe72] close [b:97848dfe72]EARLIER[/b:97848dfe72] than Saturday March 28th and [b:97848dfe72][u:97848dfe72]NO LATER[/u:97848dfe72][/b:97848dfe72] than Friday April 3rd.

[b:97848dfe72]FINALLY:[/b:97848dfe72] Spots will be reserved for previous participants for 1 week until after this post. If you are not a previous participant, please feel free to sign up as an alternate (first-come first-served).

1 - 80m Salary Cap

2 - DH (last year we used No DH so time for a change)

3 - Unique Ballparks with a twist - Maximum of 6 AL and 6 NL Parks. After 6 AL Parks have been chosen the remaining owners will have to choose from the NL & vice versa.

4 - Ballparks & Divisions will be determined by SEPERATE Pick III Lotteries. The First Lottery will determine Ballpark Draft Order. After the Ballparks are drafted the 2nd Lottery will be run to determine Division Assignments.

5 - The Lottery Results for BOTH drafts will be Low to High. 1/4/7/10, 2/5/8/11 & 3/6/9/12 will be the Divisional setup.

6 - Advanced Skill Level (50 Manager Rating Points)

7 - Variable Free Agent Drop Penalty - games 1-41: 5%, games 42-80: 10%, games 81+: 20%
Due to the relative newness of 2009 I have decided to go with a more lenient Free Agent Drop Penalty

9 - Please use Baseball related Theme name if possible

10 - Do not forget your Pick III State when signing up.
