Inglourious Basterds - 2008 A.L. Only League

Inglourious Basterds - 2008 A.L. Only League

Postby Al Hogg » Sun Aug 30, 2009 9:13 pm

In keeping with our recent movie theme (just got done with "The Watchmen" and "Star Trek" leagues), the league name will be the Inglourious Basterds league. Optional team name theme: Something to do with Quentin Tarantino movies.

Only players listed with A.L. teams can be used.

Live 24-round draft on www.somdraft.com. Select 23 players there plus a unique A.L. stadium. Last two picks will be autodrafted. We give people three hours between 10 a.m and 10 p.m. Eastern time and are also off-the-clock on weekends, though in the past we've made considerable draft progress on weekends as well. (Not sure how we'll do with Labor Day weekend coming up.) We do give people more time for the first round to make sure everyone is on board.

Salary cap will be set at $73 million at all times. That is, you must have your 25-player autodraft roster come in at $73 million or less. (This is the average of the highest paid 168 A.L. hitters and highest paid 132 A.L. pitchers. You have been warned: There won't be much in the way of Free Agents available and those who choose "value players" in early rounds likely won't be able to spend all their money.)

If not specified, we will use the later Pick 3 draft for states that have two. Serpentine draft order will be determined by the numbers in descending order. For divisions, draft numbers will be reversed (i.e., "302" becomes "203") and the four lowest numbers will be grouped in the East, the next four in the Central, and the four highest in the West.

We'll use the numbers from Monday.

1. meat - WI
2. zim - MASS (PM)
3. turtle -TX
4. sarge (BED) - NY (If there is 2 drawings I take Mid-day)
5. curt (moneymaze) - IL
6. TomSiebert - NJ
7. Terry-NM
8. Calbatross-LA
9. Al Hogg - FLA
10. Jason (uptownmastermind) - RI

You know...we COULD start today, if someone else just runs a random # generator for us. Just want to toss this out there before any of the lotto numbers are live.

Happy to see some new blood, a returning face and the QT League. I've not yet seen the new movie, though everybody tells me it's pretty good, so I'll probably draw from "Reservoir Dogs" or "True Romance" (the latter is my fave QT flick), though "Uma's Feet" is a name that sticks in my head.

Looking forward to the draft, maybe. Last year, my AL-Only team was even worse than my NL-Only team, which was also bad. Oh well....Onward!

Technically I'm not *that* new, most of you know me as OldToriiHunter.

I like trying to make-do with marginal players so that definitely grabbed my eye...I also love using SOMDraft.

far as I can tell, R.I. and Mass. DO NOT have pick 3's. in the past, we've taken the first three numbers from that day's pick 4, is that the consensus?

I can build the draft on the site once we get a ruling on the renegade state lottery selections, sometime before noon eastern tuesday morning, when turtle likely will go first. didn't he get pujols?! too?!!!!
