Hey Guys,

Figured I'd start this. Should have done it during waivers, but just didn't get around to it.

So, what do you think of your teams? Who looks tough to you?

This is my first time playting Strat. My buddy just introduced it to me. Have some early success so far, but I am sure my inexperience will haunt me.

[b:8d5243d222]JoeyK[/b:8d5243d222]:

Welcome to the community! You couldn't have picked a better league for your inaugural season - [b:8d5243d222]Joe The Jet[/b:8d5243d222]'s league chat threads provide lots of food for thought. You will learn a lot here.

Here is what I am learning from the new card set: the player pool appears very deep. $80 mil will buy you a decent team, even if you haven't figured out an approach for building a better mousetrap yet. This is good news for the noobs - you can be competitive w/ out having a lot of the more in-depth knowledge paid for with the experience of playing lots of teams.

I've only looked at my division opponents so far, and I can tell you the West looks to be pretty solid.

Well, thank you for the kind words Dr. J. I hope to life up to them.

I haven't spent much time evaluating the league yet as I am in the middle of a live draft, but I will attempt to get some thoughts down soon.

We're off to a good start, but that doesn't mean much. Still, it's better than the alternative.

We were lucky to get almost all the players we wanted and then traded Jimenez for Cano to pick up one more. Of course, we liked Jimnez better than Beckett (who wasn't on our list) but I'm hoping the tradeoff will be worth it.

Hopefully that means we'll be good, but it *is* a dice game so anything can happen.

If anyone else is checking in, just post a quick "Hi" and maybe whether you like or dislike your team.

Let's get a little chatter going here. "Hey batter, batter, batter...." :P

Hey guys, I don't usually get much time to respond here, but I did want to say hello, and thanks for setting this up. Have we ever been in a league together, Jet? Considering how long we've both played the game, it would be strange if we hadn't, but I can't actually remember one. JPav and I have gone head to head many times, and it's always a pleasure, Jeff. Lot of real good players in the league.

My comments: it's an amazingly left handed league. I don't really look closely at other teams, other than how they pertain to me and weaknesses I might exploit (i.e. L/R balance, park, power or lack of), so I won't predict. I do like my team, but it's waaay more left handed than I usually like to have, even for PNC. I drafted heavily LH to make sure I got enough for PNC, with plans to drop for more balance, but after seeing the makeup of the league decided to stay with what I had. So that's what I'm waiting to see: was that a mistake? I'll know in a few weeks.

I like this set of players and parks, see a lot of options and different ways to go.

G/L to everybody.

Thanks JPav

Thanks for the welcome JPav. I am growing very accustomed to the game, and for a noob, feel like I am doing just fine. I picked more of a balanced ballpark (Busch) where there is not significant advantage for lefties or righties, just so I can ease into the drafting and free agent process.

I really like what I see so far. There are many knowledgeable managers which should make for a great season. If only Jacoby Ellsbury and Magglio Ordonez can get their acts together, I would be truly happy.

Here is to hoping Dave Steib is satisfied with the way the team is performing.

Edge,

yeah, I'm pretty sure we've been in a league, maybe two, but I couldn't tell you when.

Sorry I haven't been on here more, my live draft has taken all my SOM time. We're almost done with the draft so I'll have more to say as time goes on.

well, we finally had an injury. Two in the same game. I knew it had to be coming sooner or later. 32 before an injury that lasted more than the rest of the game.

We have 5 guys with 600 PA and one (zimmerman) that can't get injured so it's not like we're injury prone. Also, only McCann and Hernandez have more than one injury spot on the card.

Anyone else reading this? Been kind of light traffic so far. I hope to get ratings done before too long, just been busy with my Live Draft team.
