GBBR 2010 (AKA Jehale is Master of The Universe)

Alrighty you fellow GBBRs,

As I promised on the league mail I will be "undressing" the secrets behind each of the names of the teams in the league as I play them, this will reveal their innermost weaknesses, like kryptonite to your superteams, my posts will weaken the adversaries until only one team remain: MY OWN!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

First up is jehale's Elk Creek B892

First of all what on earth is a B89?

Well, it's a chess opening move otherwise known as the Sicilian:

1 e4 c5 2 Nf3 d6 3 d4 cxd4 4 Nxd4 Nf6 5 Nc3 e6 6 Bc4 Nc6
7 Be3

And what about Elk Creek?

Well, Elk Creek can refer to either to the 18 mile tributary river to the Rogue River in Oregon, or it can refer to Kentucky's largest winery... I think jehale is therefore a Drunken man playing chess in Oregon! :)

So??? how do you beat a drunken kentucky man playing chess in an oregon River? hmmm... good question: You employ the gool ol' fashioned: Velimirovic Attack!!!

I have Nooooo idea what this is as i am just Bing'ing and Google'ing in order to try to get an edge on jehale for tonight... so... perhaps what I'll try is that I'll go with my neighbors' dogs as they need to go pee-pee and walk them to the Elk Creek River hopin' jehale is still there all drunk and playing chess... will my tactic help me win? I don't think so... but at we'll get a good laugh!

C2, I think you may be over-thinking your matchups a little bit.

Now my team is called "More GiBBeRish" and I swept my buddy CATom last night. His team is called the "Houma Hummers". Could you give us a complete analysis on our team names?

For some reason, I think Tom's team may have a more interesting recap.

Mmmm Elk Creek.

Local bar named Sandy's has a house drink called Elk Creek water. Kind of like a screwdriver with a little more kick. Very tasty

Now you tell me sto!

I think that's the key!... It's a drink... mweah, mweah, mweah... I shall prepare for jehale when we meet again!

OK. So.. I have a lot of ground to make in order to fulfill my promise of complete and utter domination. Tonight who stands in the way???

The Boise Hawks!!!

Yaaaaaaaa!!!! Chop-Chop- The Boise Haaaawwwwks!!

So, using my unique Team Name Analysis Technique (tm) I can deduce two things from such name:

1) Boise

2) Hawks

which in trn takes me to 1) State and 2) Flying.

So... I think LMBombs is playing high. Think about it: (in a) state (of) flying. He's rolling a few too many of those wacky tabaccys... mhmmmm!! Yes he is!!!

...or so he's like us to think that! I be no fool it's part of his technique, is all part of the illusion the fake-within-fake game... so here's what I think:

Boise-Idaho
Idaho-Potatos
Potatos- [b:30e66910a2]VODKA[/b:30e66910a2]

That is the key! Vodka!!! Clever, clever bombers... Vodka, is it???

OK!

And hawk, it doesn't stand for flying objects... noooooo, that's what he'd like us to believe but think about it: Hawk: Feathers!!!

... you following me??? I think the way to defeat bombs is by having feather in your uniform! I think his team's allergic to feathers... yeah, then they'll turn to potato-based-Vodka in order to stave off the allergies and then... when they're drunk... I SHALL DEAFEAT THEM!!!!!1

Mmmmmmwahahahahahahahhahahahaha!!!!

I'm so bad they call me... bad!

C2

P.S. Kevster... don't you worry my old nemesis: I shall get to you and Tom-Tom... oh yes. I will. And when I get to you with the slapping might of my SOM-O Armies of baseballic Might and power... you will feel the mighty slap of my bats! ... in other words... I wll break down you names to des[b:30e66910a2]TILL[/b:30e66910a2] the [b:30e66910a2]PILL[/b:30e66910a2] that [b:30e66910a2]WILL[/b:30e66910a2] ... make me beat 'chu

BTW, Sto I remember now which movie I saw the other day that takes place (A little bit of the film) in Lincoln nebraska that made me think of you: Yes Man.

You remember the Jim Carrey movie from a few years ago? never saw it in the theatres but they showed it in HBO some weeks ago and there it was BOOM: Lincoln Nebraska... and all I could think of was (sniff) (sniff) my Stonie... my melon-headed-Stonie-boy (Sniff)(sniff)... well yeah but without the tears because otherwise it'd be kinda creepy.

How kev... you're in he minneapolis area? The other day I saw "The Big C"the Laura Linney show in cable that's starting soon, I saw te first episode... anyways, it takes place around minneapolis, if I remember correctly... so you see??? we can all get to know each other's neck of the woods by seeing films and tv shows shot where we live!!!

I'm an LA guy, so... plenty of stuff to watch however there IS a movie that was shot (a few scenes) exactly in the school where I teach... now... wich movie is it??? that is trivia question time :)

How 'bouts the other ones, just let us know general vicinites of your whereabouts and we'll see if we can figure out a movie or tv show shot around there.

Ahh, Minneapolis.......the movie making capital of the world. When I moved here 3 years ago (ironically from Boise, ID), the only film/show I could think of for Minneapolis was the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Ooooohhhh Mr Grant!! Still not sure why she goes with 3 names. Sounds a little arrogant, if you as me.
Anyway, the only movies I could think of from here was one of my favorites, Juno.
Oh, and of course, the pregnant sheriff in Fargo had to go to the big city of Minneapolis to solve the ill-advised crime of a car dealership manager. If I recall, he had the idea to have his wife kidnapped by thugs to extort money from his father-in-law. By the end of the movie, 6 people were dead, the car dealer and one kidnapper was in jail. And someone had to clean up the wood-chipper incident.

Welcome to Minnesota!

Hehehehe... you know that for one reason or another I still haven't seen Fargo. I'm a big fan of the Cohen Bros. I think they make some of the smaqrtest movies in hollywood now-a-days but for whatever reason Fargo is still one that eludes me.

Juno on the other hand... well I think I saw it 5 times *in the theatres* when it came out, for whatever reason I was being led by my lower pelvic region at the time and I was in a serial-dating trend, and after seeing it with my brother for the first time I ended up going on dates and they wanted to see Juno, when they asked if I had seen it I would say "No"... you know to make sure they saw what they wanted... it was hard to still laugh at the jokes on the fifth run.... but I managed :)

Good stuff... I like that Big C show, she does great and Minn. looks very quaint.

Let see that I know of we have Jeep in SC, Rob in AZ and I believe "CA"Tom is actually "TX"Tom and Edge... well TX as well :)... but not sure about cities.

I'll fish out some pics of my surroundings as decpicted in HollyWeird and will post here.

C2, the thing about Yes Man is that Carey was never in Lincoln. They had a film crew and they cut him in in a few shots.

About Schmidt was one most people see about Nebraska but I haven't seen it. They say Kathy Bates was naked in there and I didn't want to take a chance of seeing that!

Too Wong Fu and Terms of Endearment are another couple of Lincoln movies.

Terms of Endearment!!!

Gosh how could I forget that one! great film, I remember seeing it in the movie theatres when I was a kid and I didn't like it as much as "The Right Stuff"... oh, well... you can't blame me I was a kid and spaceships was much more attractive than family dramas ;)

Yep... I have a bad taste in my mouth right now... I better go wash or Bates err... Bathe!!! Darn it Sto! You just *HAD* to share that visual with the rest of us didn't 'cha?

Best side of "Yes Man" was Zooey Deschanel... ooooh boy me have a big time crush on that woman... sure, ok, she's married... but.... well... I can still have a crush, right?

;)

To Wong Foo... haven't seen it... haven't even been intrigued by it... did you like Bombs??? Or should I call you "Thongs"?

MWahahahahahahahaaaa...
