Ok, guys. Here it is.
Artie's "Gone Hollywood, Baby!" 2010 Theme League
(Two-Round Live Draft)
The Basics:
2010 League
$80M
Advanced
12 Teams
DH
Any stadium of your choice.
FRENZY!!!!
5/10/20% Drops
Divisional distribution will be randomized AFTER the two-round Draft.
Simple 2-round live serpentine draft on the Individual League Chat board once we have our 12 teams signed up here.
FIRST ROUND - You pick any Academy Award Winning Picture (The link to this list of movies is at the end of this post.) The Manager will then own the exclusive draft rights to all the players whose last name begins with the first letter of the Movie you select. For instance, if you pick "Slumdog Millionaire," you will have the exclusive right in the AutoDraft to draft any player whose last name begins with "S." Those players are yours! No one else can place these players on their auto-draft list.
Once you pick a movie, all other movies with that letter are ineligable to be picked. So, there will only be ONE "S" movie, one "R," movie, etc.
VITAL: IN ADDITION, in the Auto-Draft, you will also be able to select any player from any letter NOT selected by another manager, or the "independent studio" letters: J, Q, V, X and Z.
SECOND ROUND - Working from 12 up to 1, each manager will be able to cherry pick any one player from those letters whose Movies were NOT picked by other managers in the First Round. This INCLUDES the "independent studio" letters: J, Q, V, X and Z
STUDIO CONTRACT: After the Autodraft is complete, and your teams have been distributed, from that point on, all players of ALL letters are fair game for Frenzy and Free Agent selection (This includes if some of us decided to drop the player we picked in Round 2 as well.) Movie letter designations or restrictions do not apply once the frenzy or waivers begin. . .
HOWEVER, to instill some meaning in the theme throughout the season, we all must maintain at least FIVE players of our designated movie letter on our rosters. If I select "Braveheart," I must maintain at least FIVE players whose last name begins with B at all times throughtout the season. They don't have to be any of the original picks, but you will need to maintain, on your roster, at least five such players at all time.
Other Important points:
1. On your draft card you can only put players whose last name begins with your Movie OR players whose last name begins with a letter from among unselected Movies, PLUS your "Cherry Picked" player from among the unaffiliated letters.
2. Players whose rights you own should be listed at the BOTTOM of your draft card.
More Stuff:
1. Your team name must begin with the same FIRST LETTER as the movie you chose. It can even BE the Movie title itself or an adaptation of the Movie Title you choose.
2. Your Manager name should be someone associated with the Movie (either a character or an actor, or director).
3. Please be a manager who has played such theme leagues and will stick to it all season long. The whole fun will be the challenge of working within this framework.
4. TIME LIMIT: It should be a pretty quick live draft. Two rounds on the individual league chat forum here once we have 12 managers signed up. We're going to stick with a three-hour time limit weekdays between 9 a.m. Eastern and 11 p.m. Eastern thru Friday. TIME CARRYOVER: If it is my turn at 9 p.m. Eastern time, and I don't pick that night, I do NOT have another three-hour stretch the next day -- I only have the remaining hour from the night before, at which point the next guy CAN make his pick. Please proxy your pick to those who have already picked ahead of you. (It's only TWO Rounds, guys: Movie pick and Unaffiliated Cherry Pick. Hopefully, this won't become an issue.)
5. Divisional Alignment will be randomized AFTER Round Two.
Any questions, just let me know.
