Strato Hoops Idea

Roster Dimensions:
15 player roster
12 active players
3 on inactive or DL
You must draft 2 PG, SG, SF, PF, C
Your last 5 players are completely up to you!

Minutes:
You have complete control of minutes you can make your team a well balanced team by putting your starters and reserves around the same amount of minutes or you can make your team star based say if you have lebron and a weak SF you could make Lebrons minutes around 45 and the bench guy around 5 or 6 a game that. The simulator will do its best to give your number 1 guy the minutes you want and the people behind will be lower on the priority.

Situational Minutes: Situational Minutes would be like if its close in the 4th quarter you put it so that your stars stay in their no matter what. If it’s a blowout you would be able to bring in your scrubs and let them play the last few minutes so your stars don’t get fatigued.

Offensive Strategies/ Priorities:
On offense you will have the opportunity to run a high tempo a regular tempo and slow down offense. In addition you can use 4 of the plays each game. Plays include pick and roll, high post screen, low post screen, drive in dish out etc. On offense you will be able to set priorities. Say you have a great player and not so great other players. You can set your offensive priorities so that the great player is the first look for a shot. You can set your 1st 2nd and 3rd priorities in a game. It will remember that if your priority guy goes out not to make the replacement the priority.

Situational: If you’re up big you can make it so that you run the slow down offense with the motion play to stall. If you’re down late in the game you can have it set so that if your down 10 with 3 minutes to go put it into high tempo offense with quick hitting plays. You can also set your priorities by quarter so if you have someone that seems to step up in the 4th quarter you can make that person your number one priority in the 4th quarter.

Defensive Strategies: Your defensive strategies include the following: You can make any guy on your team guard any other guy on their team. You can full- court press, half court trap, double team individuals, play 2-3 zone, 3-2 zone, and man to man. You can set it up so that if a team has a certain player in to play a certain defense, and you can make 1 of the your primary defense.

Lineups: Got a guy that’s a high scorer coming into town, put your defensive specialist on him. If Yao’s coming don’t get caught with a 6’10 center put a guy in there that can match up with him. You are allowed to switch your lineup based on certain situations to create match up problems or just so that you can stay with a guy. You cannot start a guy though that is not listed at a position. The guy has to have played 10 games in the last year at that position or have been given special permission at that position.

Manager Strategy: You can set players shot selection. If you’ve got Shaq you don’t want him out near the 3 point line so make his shots be predominately down by the hoop. If you have Peja put his 3 pointers way up. You can also set players pass to shot ratio. If you have a guy that’s not a great shot but can dish the ball this is where this is going to come in handy.

Injury Chances: Your injury chances are based on how many games were missed due to injury last year. If a guy started all 82 games he most likely won’t get hurt, but if you have someone that got injured 10 times last year he will get hurt a lot more and for longer.

Free Agency: There is free agency. Anyone that didn’t get picked in the draft is fair game. You can make any transaction before the season starts and get your full money value. After the season starts you will only get 80% of your money back. If you pick someone up during the season they will be out for 2 games due to “flight time”. You cannot pick someone up after the 60th game. Players on your disabled list cannot be dropped.

Trades: You can make trades with other managers. You cannot make more than 25 trades throughout the entire season and you can’t make a trade after the 60th game. If you trade a player they will have to sit for 2 games due to “flight time”

Games and Results: Each night 2 games are simulated. You can adjust setting for each game individually because they will not be against the same team. There aren’t any rest days you have to set your team each night. Games will come with a box score and a playbyplay as to what happened that you will be able to view in the morning. Games are simulated by the computer which takes into effect all of your settings for that game as close to possible as it can.

League Settings: Each league will contain East West North and Central division. Each division will contain 4 members. The East and North are a conference and so are West and central.

Playoffs: The winner of each division plays the 2nd place team from the other division in their conference. 3 game series. The first 2 games will be simulated day 1 the final game if neccasary will be simulated day 2 after you have had time to make your changes and adjustments. Winners will play in a 5 game 3 day simulation where its 2 games 2 games 1 game. The winner of that game will play the other conference champ in a 7 game 4 day series 2 games 2 games 2 games 1 game.

The team with the best record has home court advantage. Home court in the playoffs is factored int by 5%.

Winning: The winning team gets an additional 2 credits, the loser receives 1. Credits can’t be transferred to newer games but, can be transferred to older games if you want. Credits are good for strato only unless a transfer is approved by a TSN Employee.
