Help with a Comerica Team

Help with a Comerica Team

Postby STEVEPONEDAL » Mon Dec 11, 2006 7:05 pm

Hope you can give me some help with my team. I am starting out a little slower than expected with my offense. Rollins, Mauer and Catalonatto are all startig a little slower than I expected.

I use Dye on the road in hitter's parks. My division has 2 MM field teams and kauffman stadium. The pitching in the division is RH-oriented.

Any thoughts on improving my offense? Am I just being impatient and should start seeing some better roles of the die?

Thanks

Steve

Hello from the Central, Thiefs. Sweeney and Catalanotto are both DH's and shouldn't be playing in the field.

Dye is a full time RF but you have Giles. Rollins and Grudzielanek are not platoon players. Keep Castro on the bench.

You had Tyner in CF before he went down for 15. He is half of a platoon and not in CF. Your outfield could be Giles - RF, Johnson - CF, Sullivan - LF. I suppose Sweeney could be your 1B and then DH Catalanotto. That leaves Dye and Tyner on the bench. Package them and Sweeney in a trade for a real first baseman?

On a positive note, your pitching is set up really well for the 2 MM's in your division. However Arroyo is getting shelled when you start him after his relief appearances. Best just to go one way or the other with him because without rest after a relief appearance a S/R pitcher will begin his start fatigued. Same goes for relieving after a start.

I've got another team going now with 4 extreme XR starters (including Davis and Arroyo) with 2 MM's in my division. The team is doing very well.
The third team in your division only has 3 lefty hitters. You could put Pettite on the trading block along with the others. Get a RP as part of the deal to replace Arroyo who will join the rotation full time and consolidate your offense. Good luck and see you on Thursday in San Diego.

I don't look forward to my Petco visits. I don't like sand in my dogfood.

Anyway, thanks for the response.

During my draft I thought of Chad Tracy at 1B.

Think he would work at Comerica?

Option 1

Since your park is neutral as far as BPHR's go, you should get a RH 1B to take advantage of the MM's. If you can't swing a trade for Sweeney (which is likely), Shelton, on the high end $ wise and E. Perez, on the low end, are on the FA list. I see you are taking offers for Pettite. Make sure you get some relief pitching in return, not just "RHP".

Option 2

Drop Dye - net 2.7
Drop Tyner - net 3.0
Pettite to a S/R reliever < 2.54
Sweeney to D. Lee :D

Your pen has been bulked up and your dead weight is gone. Your roster value decreased 4M but you have more than that sitting on the bench now. Those MM's won't know what hit them when Lee comes to town.

Thanks for tthe help. I got rid of Petitte. It's funny because in another league I am in Petitte is 15 and 7 with a 3.xx ERA in Comerica.
Must be how the competition lines up and the stadiums as well.

kept Tyner and got rid of Catalonatto. Tyner plays all 3 outfield positions.

See you tomorrow night in SD.
