S7* Pitchers

S7* Pitchers

I have 4 S7* starters at MM. Carpenter,Oswalt,Webb, & Weaver. Would you recommend setting MAX. 7 IP FOR START for any of these pitchers to eliminate the tiredness factor? My bull pen is pitching well right now, but maybe the increased innings would have a negative effect on them?

NO WAY! They'll be fine, and you want those guys, especially carpenter, doing the majority of the pitching. That's a common rookie mistake...I never limit anyones innings like that, but if you have weak starters and a good pen for instance, then you set your relief usage for aggressive. In the opposite case, strong starters, bad pen....then you set it for conservitive.
(under manager settings)
Good luck! Carpenter and Webb should be golden in MM!

Just to clarify for [b:0342d8590b]kab[/b:0342d8590b]... innings pitched don't "add up" in this game for SP; the game isn't going to care if the guy has thrown 500 innings. The only thing it looks back at is when the previous game was. * starters need three days' rest; non-* starters need four days' rest. Since the game doesn't let you start them if they have less rest than that, there is really nothing to worry about, as far as that goes.

Of course, a starter can get tired in a particular game, if he throws enough pitches and/or pitches badly enough in that one game. The disadvantage of "slow hook" is that it may leave him in to get tired and blow games late, where your bullpen could have saved you. But if the SP is good enough and/or your pen is bad enough, it may make sense anyway. In any event, you don't have to worry about IP adding up.

I would for carp....not the others.
if webb starts getting tatooed by a leftie team you need him to be pulled.
