Just to clarify for [b:0342d8590b]kab[/b:0342d8590b]... innings pitched don't "add up" in this game for SP; the game isn't going to care if the guy has thrown 500 innings. The only thing it looks back at is when the previous game was. * starters need three days' rest; non-* starters need four days' rest. Since the game doesn't let you start them if they have less rest than that, there is really nothing to worry about, as far as that goes.
Of course, a starter can get tired in a particular game, if he throws enough pitches and/or pitches badly enough in that one game. The disadvantage of "slow hook" is that it may leave him in to get tired and blow games late, where your bullpen could have saved you. But if the SP is good enough and/or your pen is bad enough, it may make sense anyway. In any event, you don't have to worry about IP adding up.
