Ball Park HR Question

Ball Park HR Question

Postby kab105 » Sat May 19, 2007 2:41 pm

Help, I am a little confused. (2007 game)

# -- Ballpark home run reading. An additional roll determines whether there is a home run or a flyout. Obviously, the probability varies by ballpark and whether the hitter is lefthanded or righthanded. The original result listed is ignored -- in effect, the result will be determined by "rolling against" the ballpark's home run rating (a random number from 1-20). If the number rolled is equal to or higher than the ballpark's rating for a left- or righthanded hitter, it is a home run.

Let's say I am in Fenway. HR Lefty is 3 and Righty is 6.

Does this mean, for a right handed batter, and the roll is 6 or higher, it's a homerun?

It would be
LH - HR 1-3, flyout 4-20
RH - HR 1-6, flyout 7-20

Thanks LMBombers!
That's what I thought. It seems to me that in the last sentence above,

"If the number rolled is equal to or higher than the ballpark's rating for a left- or righthanded hitter, it is a home run." the word "higher" should say
"lower".

what if there are no numbers after a #HR? Then how does it determine whether it is a HR or not?
Thanks in advance, Drew

The numbers after a # are never used to determine the result. Those are used only if you aren't using BP effects (and SOM always does). Instead, a second roll determines the result. If it is less than or equal to the HR rating for that park for that hitter (left or right), then the result is a HR.
