4e10 or 3e48 at ss?

Postby padrenurgle1 » Mon Feb 27, 2012 8:27 pm

I'm in the 24 team 1986 league, $60m teams, everyone is hosed in one way or another. My particular problem is I have no shortstop. I have two scrubs, one is a 4e10 (the only 4 I ever played at ss was Kevin Mitchell in 1989, lol), the other is a 3e48 (how can someone be that bad?).

Neither can hit a lick.

Trust me, the other options were much worse (as bad as 4e88...it wasn't a good year for shortstops).

Any thoughts about which is better defensively?

My calculations confirm what would probably be most peoples' gut instinct, that the 4e10 is... less harmful.

Thank you! That was my lean too...although I may platoon them as the 4e10 is a 2L and the 3e48 is a 2R.

For quick guesstimating, 1 pt of range factor at SS is worth ~ 21 errors

So, 4e10 =~ 3e31 vs 3e48. 4e10 is better.

There can be some small effect of double plays and higher range factors in the Inf have more SI** vs SI*. But these are pretty small factors.

1 pt Range factor =~
SS 21 errors
2B 18 errors
3B 9 errors
1b 6 errors
