Outside of trial/error here @ TSN.. what outside resources?

I have my second ever draft tonight at midnight. My first league was a few years ago using the 2003 set and I'm wondering what outside sources people use to improve. Specifically, I'd like offline solo and netplay. I looked online at purchasing a game set.. but there were alot of options and I want to make sure I purchase the right stuff right out the gate. Is there a combo online/offline set I should buy?

My ultimate goal is learn the cards and strategies involved so I can kick all your tails here at TSN. :)

Although the board game is the most fun to play face-to-face, if you're looking to play solo and/or replicate how the TSN game works, all you need is the most recent version of the computer game, with "card image." The "ratings disk" is also a big help.

One way to improve that won't cost you any $$$ is to read the boards. I still pick up many tips from reading the posts. You can search by key words such as park names, "favorite player" posts, etc. looking at the successful teams of others is also a big help, as it gets you thinking outside of your comfort zone. I still always check out the teams of top players and copy some of their strategies.

the way I learn is on the boards- what I like to do is check past leagues and see results. although each league is different you get an idea of how players perform in different parks. outside of that there is no substitute for reading the cards.
