How much is the * worth?

How much is the * worth?

The rule of thumb is not to mix *SP's and non * SP's.

A staff with 4 *'s on their staff usually wastes around 600K in the form of a pitcher that isn't used.

Isn't that the same as having a staff with 4 non * SP's and one *, [b:952fca9b7a]if[/b:952fca9b7a] the * is worth 600K?
Or 3 non *'s and 2 *'s if the * is worth 300K?
Or 2 non *'s and 3 *'s if the * is worth 200K?

Anyone have a feel for how much the * is worth?

Edit - After looking around I found the answer here

Palmtana,
The explanation on that thread makes things a tad more complicated than they need to be. I follow the logic given, but more simply, you can multiply a no-star pitcher's value times 1.25 to find his value if he had a star. Multiply a * starter times 0.8 to find his value if he did not have a star. This method doesn't assume a certain number of starts, since not every starter is a #1 or #2 that would start in games 161 and 162. It simply considers the value impact of pitching every 4th day versus every 5th day.
Basically, if you carry a * starter with a value of 2.5M or less to use in a 5-man rotation, you're not losing any more money than if you carry a 0.5M starter that pitches 0 innings in a season.

Thanks maligned. So I'll keep Beckett along with my 4 non * SP's.
