2007 First timer looking for advice

Have played ATG3 a few times but 2007 seems a lot different.
Playing at Shea and was wondering what was the better pitching option: Liriano and Beckett or Anibal Sanchez and Verlander (each duo prices out at $9.27 Mil). My other starters are Johan, Pettitte and Edgar Gonzalez. Zambrano, Padilla, Lee and Garland are the only FA * pitchers above $2Mil available hence my looking at non * Liriano and Sanchez. My concern with Carlos is he skews heavily righty and I already have an ace that does that (Santana), so I was looking for more balance. Other parks in my division are Wrigley, Dodgers and Kaufmann.
Thanks in advance for your help.

You'll get more thorough advice if you post a link to your team. Go to your leagues Statistics page, click on your team and copy the URL that results (which should have an ID number on the end) here.
Welcome to the fairly recent present!

Boy, your right about the *SP's. I've never seen so few left after waivers. I would switch to non *SP's. You've got your pick of the low WHIP litter. For the $ you have in Liriano, Santana, Pettite and Beckett or Gonzalez (I would keep one of them but not both because of the 2 hitting parks in your division) you could have Clemens/Maine/Hill/Cain with change left over.

You've got some om my top SP left in the Fa list. go to a 5 man, I can't beleive Cain is even available, I can never get the damn guy. Clemens, Sheets, Cain are a great 3 to have. With Liriano (or Santana if you want someone for the playoffs) and e Gonzalez, that makes a great SP set.
And I'd personally move German to 3b and get a better offensive card for a DH. Also I prefer Paulino at C over Irod, yes less of an arm, but I've seen much better hitting results.

Thank you all for your help. I have incorporated some of your suggestions already but have a question about defense.
Based on the advice (drop IRod and Zimmerman for more offense) it seems as though defense matters less here than in ATG, why is that? The fielder ratings are on the same card numbers in 2007 as in ATG. I actually thought D would be more significant here because there seems to be so little of it available.
Thanks again for the help.
What do people think about Jamie Walker at $2 mil

for an R1? For that kind of dough wouldn't one want at least an R2? Seems like there is some xtra $$ there.
