Offense vs. Defense article

I have published an article about how to weigh offense vs. defense in SOM baseball, and how to come up with a total value for each player that includes both hitting and fielding. Here it is.
The system described in it has two major advantages over other systems that have been used for this purpose.[list:34c8e28304][*:34c8e28304]It does not use the flawed OPS stat or the complete gibberish "H+E/TB per AB/G" stat, but instead, uses a stat that directly represents actual runs. (The stat I use goes by the catchy name of New Estimated Runs Produced, or NERP.)[*:34c8e28304]It includes double plays turned by infielders.[/list:u:34c8e28304]The ZIP file includes both the spreadsheet I used to do the work, and a Word document that walks you through where all the numbers come from. However, if all you want is to figure out player values, then all you really need is the last two pages of the Word doc.
If you have any problems or questions, please PM me or post here!
