Platoon is not a dirty word....

Platoon is not a dirty word....

With the live draft leagues a gamer is able to do more platoons. However I have read that Computer Hal does not respond well to more than one platoon per lineup. Does anyone know if this info is true or not? I have found (especially with the 1986 game) that some platoons can make your lineup look better(at least on paper). Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I sometimes use more than 1 platoon and don't worry about it. Don't expect HAL to change your lineup at the first pitcher change however. If a RP is brought in the 6th inning for example that is an opposite handed pitcher, HAL won't PH that early in the game generally.

That is what I was worried about

Thanks for the info! I suspected what you have written! It is too bad that he will not pinch hit early. What if you set your player to avoid RHP or LHP, will that help? Thanks,

I would say it's a valid strategy in $200/Live drafts situations that can get you a better team as you avoid the glut of drafters for the high priced guys. I would get a few key guys to play the inportant positions though. here is a seventies $200 team with four or five platoons depending. On a pace for 100 wins. The worst platoon split is about 75%, with some at a 10:1 ratio, so HAL does OK IMO.
