Is a pitcher with C(0) on his card usable as a closer??

Shouse for instance. Can you put him in after the 8th inning to get an out or 2?
Thanks.

You can, but if it's a closer situation and he gives up a baserunner at any point (which in Shouse's case, given his non-dominating performance vs. righties, is pretty likely), he will become tired. Once he becomes tired, the computer manager will probably remove him; if he is left in, he will not be nearly as effective a pitcher. So I wouldn't recommend it, unless the guy is a totally devastating pitcher unlikely to give up any baserunners, which is not the case with Shouse.
(BTW, in SOM terms, a "closer situation" cannot be earlier than the 9th inning. Definition here, Rule 28.)

Thanks Dean.
Now last year Shouse and Beimel were C(1), so they could be brought in to get one or 2 LHBs out in the ninth.
This year, they are both C(0) so do they still have value holding them until the 8th or 9th?

Nah, you should get a "real" closer with a higher C rating.
